Last week our Connecting Forward Team was at TCAT Clarksville spreading the word about the program. In case you missed us! Here’s a quick run down!
Goodwill- Connecting Forward under a state grant program, aims at helping low-income families achieve economic independence and family stability, while reducing generational poverty and increasing social capital.
Goodwill’s mission is to change lives through education, training, and employment. The grant allows us to connect families with local agencies for additional services, such as counseling and parenting classes, and advocate for children’s educational rights. We also offer financial incentives to parents who achieve specific employment and education goals.
Many people recognize Goodwill as a retail store, but we also offer a variety of community services free of charge. These include occupational skills training in IT, construction, call centers, custodial work, and more. We hold monthly job fairs, and provide free educational classes on computer basics, job readiness, and productivity.
