A public residential high school serving students from throughout Louisiana. Now accepting applications for Fall '27!
(464)

Established by the Louisiana legislature in 1982, LSMSA has become a viable option for high school students who wish to surpass the limitations of their home schools. A public high school, LSMSA has no tuition and only a nominal room and board fee, with assistance available from the LSMSA Foundation for qualifying families. Students are encouraged to apply during their freshman or sophomore year, but some consideration is given to students who apply only to attend for their senior year. LSMSA belongs to an expanding nationwide group of state-supported, residential high schools founded to serve the academic, artistic, and creative needs of many of the states' best students.

Community is at the heart of the LSMSA experience!

Students, faculty, staff, and their families recently gathered for a community dinner, sharing good food, great company, and time together outside the classroom.

Thank you to all faculty and staff members who volunteered their time to help make this event possible. 💙💛

The LSMSA Theatre Department presents "A Fantastic End," a pair of one-act plays by American absurdist Arthur Kopit. Students in the Theatre Repertory class will bring to life "Good Help Is Hard to Find" and "Chamber Music" in the CPT Blackbox Theatre. 🎭

"Good Help Is Hard to Find": A wealthy couple just can't find good servants! In this short one-act, Kopit plays with the idea of being careful what you wish for.

"Chamber Music": History is full of notable women. What happens when eight of them are confined to a ward in a mental hospital?

📣Show times: Nov. 4-6 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 8 at 2 p.m.
Location: LSMSA, Center for Performance and Technology (CPT) Blackbox Theatre
Admission: Free for LSMSA and Northwestern State University students and staff; $10 general admission

The community is invited to attend and support the students as they bring these works to the stage. Both plays are presented by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals.

LSMSA is a tuition-free, public high school for high-achieving sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Financial assistance is available to ensure that no eligible student is denied access to its 43-year legacy of a college-level living/learning experience.

We kicked off Halloween celebrations early this week, with Monday’s festivities featuring trick-or-treating, movies, keychain making, bingo, face painting, a comic strip contest, and plenty of other games and crafts.

A special thank-you goes to the volunteers whose spirit 👻 and enthusiasm made the evening a success. 🎉

Moments like these show what makes the LSMSA community so special. Wishing everyone a safe and happy Halloween!

A little creativity, a few pipe cleaners, and some seriously imaginative monsters!

LSMSA Counselor Erin King recently led another Wellness on Wednesdays activity, giving students an opportunity to step away from their busy schedules and get creative.

Using pipe cleaners and other craft materials, students brought their own little monsters to life, each with its own personality!

Wellness on Wednesdays is about more than crafts. It's about creating opportunities for students to relax, connect, and take a little time for themselves. At LSMSA, students don't have to navigate challenges alone. Our counseling team is here to listen, support, and help every Eagle thrive.

🎉 Congratulations to LSMSA’s Dr. Allison Landry, Senior Lecturer of Biology, on being named a recipient of the University of Chicago Outstanding Educator Award! Dr. Landry was nominated by Annabel Schleifstein (LSMSA Class of ’26), who is now studying at the University of Chicago.

The UChicago Outstanding Educator Award recognizes Dr. Landry for being a role model to students and for thoughtfully approaching instruction, sharing an infectious love for learning, and caring for students inside and outside of the classroom.

“Allison stood out among a field of incredible, capable, and inspiring educators. We are proud to recognize them, and in turn, recognize your institution,” said UChicago Vice President and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Jim Nondorf.

For over 20 years, Dr. Landry has nurtured and inspired countless LSMSA students and we are happy to see her dedication and mentorship honored with this prestigious award. 💙💛
