๐ŸŒฑ Growing Knowledge in Our School Garden! ๐ŸŒฟ

Our Master Gardeners have been busy helping our Rockets learn, explore, and discover in our school garden!

Kindergarten students sorted living and nonliving things during their garden tour. They even spotted a praying mantis along the way!

Third grade students dug into the world of soil and composting, learning how these natural processes help our gardens grow.

Fourth grade students wrapped up their fall lessons by exploring native and invasive plants. Connecting their learning to Jamestown, students discussed Indigenous peoples and English settlers as they explored the meaning of native and invasive. They learned how native plants support the environment while invasive plants can crowd them out. Students also got hands-on experience exploring the gardenโ€™s herbs, vegetables, and native plants.

A huge THANK YOU to our Master Gardeners for providing meaningful, hands-on learning experiences and helping our Rockets grow their knowledge right in our own backyard!

Our fifth graders had an amazing time with CEP Solar! โ˜€๏ธ

CEP Solar, a company that works on solar projects across Virginia, visited NBES to lead an exciting STEM activity. Students learned how solar panels turn sunlight into energy and then put their knowledge to work by building their very own solar-powered cars!

With plenty of sunshine, it was the perfect day to take their cars outside for a test drive! โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ”‹๐ŸŽ๏ธ

A huge thank-you to CEP Solar for providing our students with this fun, hands-on learning experience! We appreciate our community partners who help bring learning to life!

After listening to the book Monsters Love Colors, kindergarteners created their own unique monsters, added fun patterns, and brought their creations to life with paint! Along the way, they practiced their painting skills and explored the magic of mixing colors. ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ๐ŸซŸ

We love seeing our Rocketsโ€™ creativity shine! Weโ€™re on track for a GREAT year! โค๏ธ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’œ

Our K-2 students enjoyed lots of adventures on the farm in their music program "The Sound of Moo-sic"! ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿšœ๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŽถ

They brought to life the books "Fiddle-i-Fee" by Paul Galdone, "Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type" by Doreen Cronin and the fable "Chicken Little".

Congratulations to all the students for a great performance!

Thank you to our music teacher Mrs. Lynch and to all the staff who helped make this a fun night for the students.
