Parents must accompany children, and feel free to bring a favorite board game to share, just be sure to label it with your name.

🍂🧘‍♀️ Recently our students embraced the fall season with outdoor yoga! From “leaf pose” stretches to mindful breathing under the autumn sky, they’re finding calm, balance, and joy in every movement.

📚Now through Sunday, Nov. 7, any time you buy a book at our awesome local bookstore and say you’re with Van Ness, 20% of all proceeds go to our school. 💵🎓✏️

We are excited to have you join Turning the Page for our author visit and community night! Author Karen Leggett Abouraya will be doing a read aloud of her book Zamzam, followed by an activity for the kids and an opportunity for parents to do a Q&A.

Last week, Ms. Kay and Ms. Crystal’s classes had special visitors from Everybody Wins DC in library class! We heard from a local author and met our site coordinators who will be representing EWDC at Van Ness all year. We read some fun books and thought about storytelling by writing our own endings and retelling scenes in charades. Every student got to take home a book of their own to keep for their home library. We love our partnership with Everybody Wins DC and cannot wait to welcome them back for more visits this year.
