We’re proud to have been part of the team that helped Mr. Preston alongside Swanton Fire & Rescue, ALS 7, and Whitehouse.
When every second counted, crews worked together to give him the best chance possible. Hearing that he was able to stop by and visit the Swanton crew means so much to all of us.
Thank you to everyone who had a hand in his care. Mr. Preston, we wish you well as you continue your recovery and hope you enjoy many more years with the people you love.
Some calls stay with you long after the tones stop.
Recently, Swanton Fire & Rescue and ALS 7 were dispatched alongside Providence Township and Whitehouse (Second ALS Ambulance) for a cardiac arrest. What followed was a true example of what can happen when aggressive medical protocols, state-of-the-art equipment, quality training, and teamwork come together.
Every second mattered. Every provider had a role. Firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and our partners worked together with one goal: give this patient the best possible chance to survive.
Today, we had the privilege of seeing that effort come full circle.
Mr. Preston stopped by the station to visit the crew who responded to his call for help. Seeing him standing there, talking with the people who helped care for him on what could have been the worst day of his life, was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.
For emergency responders, there is no better outcome than seeing the person we were called to help walk back through our doors.
This success belongs to everyone involved—from the first provider on scene to the crews who continued care throughout the call.
Training matters. Equipment matters. Protocols matter. Teamwork matters.
Most importantly, people matter.
Thank you to our partners at Providence Township and Whitehouse for working alongside us, and congratulations to the entire team who played a role in giving Mr. Preston another chance.
This is why we answer the call.
