Proudly serving the Town of Onondaga by providing Fire & Rescue services to Nedrow and surrounding communities since 1949. The Nedrow Fire Department Inc.

is a completely volunteer organization that responds to emergencies day and night. We are a non-profit group that is contracted with the Town of Onondaga to provide fire and EMS services. We work closely with with our neighboring departments, specifically with the Onondaga Nation Volunteer Department, answering all of their calls as well as them answering all of ours. This insures that, regardless the emergency, there is always enough qualified and experienced people to respond. We also work with our neighbors to the west, the South Onondaga fire Department and our neighbors to the east, the Sentinel Heights Fire Department. And because we work with the Onondaga Nation and Sentinel Heights Fire Departments, we respond to calls on I-81, to the north and south of exit 16.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. On 09/11/2001, our nation lost 343 firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers, and over 2,000 more civilians and military from the attacks on our country. Since then, we have lost survivors and those that came to help from illness related to the event.

Even now, over a generation since, we remember their sacrifice and honor their legacy.

As children in the OCS district head back to school tomorrow, please keep a close eye out for students getting on and off school buses. Always stop for school buses when their red lights are flashing as it is the law. In fact, even emergency vehicles cannot pass a stopped school bus with its red lights activated when responding to a call. The safety of our children is always the top priority. We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful summer, and we wish all students, teachers, and staff a safe and great school year!

Nedrow Rescue was dispatched to a reported MVC in the area of Rt 11A and Gibson Rd, in the Onondaga Nation Vol. Fire District. Rescue 42 responded and on arrival, assisted Onondaga Nation Rescue 1 with patient care of the vehicles occupants. During this time, a partner agency ambulance that was responding, was involved in an incident, leading to injury to both crew members.

The NFD extends its sympathies and thoughts to those affected within the OCS community from the first incident and to the EMS providers injured in the second incident. Both crew members have made important contributions as EMS responders in our community. A thank you to the bystanders on scene who assisted on the first incident and to AMR for its response.

For those unfamiliar, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation was born from the tragedy of 9/11 and continues its mission to “do good” by:
• Providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children.
• Building specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders.
• Working tirelessly to eradicate veteran homelessness.
• Ensuring America never forgets September 11, 2001.

This year marks 25 years since 9/11, thank you to all of the runners that participated today.
