The English translation is:
I am Armando Salud-Ambriz, Director of Elections here, to let you know that ballots will be mailed on October 5. Return your ballot early using an official county drop box. Use the Sign, Scan, Go option: Complete your ballot at home, bring it to a vote center and scan it yourself.

A question that sometimes comes up before elections is: "Can I just write in anyone's name on the ballot?" The short answer is not exactly.

While you can physically write in any name you like, only certified write-in candidates can receive counted write-in votes. Sorry, Jesus, Mickey Mouse and your favorite celebrity won't qualify—unless they completed the required paperwork and are eligible to hold the office.

The write-in candidacy period opened Sept. 7 and closes this Tuesday, Oct. 20 for the Nov. 3 Election.

To become a certified write-in candidate, a person must file official write-in candidacy papers with the Elections Office, confirm they are willing to serve if elected and meet the qualifications for the office.
