The Allen Volunteer Fire Department is honored to be part of Landon’s journey home tonight. Our department assisted with this accident scene, and it means so much to be part of this special homecoming as Landon continues his road to recovery.

After 139 days of fighting, Landon’s strength and courage are an inspiration to our entire community. We ask everyone to continue keeping Landon and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

For the past 139 days, Floyd Central senior Landon Samons has been fighting for his life and working hard toward recovery following a horrible tragedy. Throughout these months, he has shown tremendous strength and courage. Please continue to keep Landon and his family in your thoughts and prayers as his recovery continues.

Tonight, we are honored to join his family, friends, and classmates in welcoming him HOME!

If you would like to show your support, we will be passing by the Mountain Arts Center around 7:30 p.m. tonight. Supporters may park safely along the shoulder, keeping the roadway clear, and honk their horns, wave, or hold up a sign to welcome him home.

Let’s show Landon how much his community loves and supports him! 💙

October 16, 2026

Fire Departments Respond to Fully Involved Structure Fire on Rene Lane

PRESTONSBURG, KY Allen Volunteer Fire Department and Cow Creek Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire on Rene Lane, just off KY-194 in the Cow Creek area of Prestonsburg.

Upon arrival of the first responding engine, firefighters observed that the residence was fully involved in fire. Fire crews immediately began operations to address the incident.

Responding apparatus included Cow Creek Engine 3, Cow Creek Tanker 1, Allen Engine 2, and Allen Command 2. Approximately 12 gallons of firefighting foam were utilized during suppression operations.

Big Sandy Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation (RECC) was notified and requested to respond to the scene.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

We appreciate the coordinated efforts of all responding personnel and agencies who worked together at the scene.

Additional information will be released if it becomes available.

Oklahoma Hollow, Allen KY is currently closed to all traffic due to a large tree that has fallen and brought down power lines, making the roadway impassable. Floyd County District 2 magistrate has been contacted and crews are responding to clear the roadway.
