The mission of the New Bedford Human Rights Commission is rooted in a simple principle: every member of our community deserves to be treated with dignity, fairness, and respect.
In moments of concern and uncertainty, we remain committed to advocating for human and civil rights, supporting our community, and helping ensure that people are treated fairly and with humanity.
This is the work the Human Rights Commission has been entrusted to do, and we remain committed to serving the people of New Bedford.

New Bedford Human Rights Commission celebrated Marci Pina-Christian’s final meeting as our Executive Director.

Marci has been more than a title. She has been a voice, an advocate, a steady presence and a true champion for the human rights mission of our city.

Through her work with the Human Rights Commission and Community Outreach, Marci has helped make sure people were heard, respected, protected and connected to the support they needed.

From special occasions to difficult conversations, from community celebrations to moments when someone needed a person in their corner, Marci has always led with heart, purpose and commitment.

So we do not simply say goodbye. We say thank you. We say we love you. And we say see you soon, because someone as dedicated as Marci is never far from the people and community she has served so well.

Thank you, Marci, for your leadership, your service and your heart. Your impact will continue to be felt in New Bedford for years to come. ❤️
