It’s School Bus Safety Week! Protecting our students, one stop at a time, takes all of us.

A few extra seconds of patience can make all the difference:

- Stop when a bus’s red lights are flashing and its stop arm is extended.
- Slow down and watch for students near schools and bus stops.
- Put distractions away and keep bus loading zones clear.

THANK YOU to our bus drivers, staff, and families for helping students get to school and home safely!

A school bus stop is a safety zone, not a passing opportunity.

Join the SDNB on Wednesday, Oct. 21, as we celebrate Unity Day! 🧡

Students, staff and families are encouraged to wear orange to support kindness and acceptance.

Let’s turn that support into everyday actions: include someone new, speak up with kindness, and help every student feel like they belong. Together, we can prevent bullying!

Our Beyond 18 students participated in their first job shadowing experience in collaboration with Independence First at the Milwaukee County Zoo.

Students explored a variety of career opportunities, from groundskeeping and zookeeping to retail sales, cashiering, safety support, and more. They asked questions, learned about different job responsibilities, and connected what they discovered to their own interests, strengths, and future goals.

These hands-on, real-world experiences help our students explore employment possibilities, build confidence, and make informed decisions about life after graduation.

A big thank-you to Independence First for partnering with us to help our students discover their potential and build brighter futures. We look forward to many more opportunities ahead!
