πŸ“’ **NEW BERLIN BOROUGH OFFICE β€” PHONE & INTERNET SERVICE RESTORED**

Good Afternoon,

We are happy to let everyone know that the issues affecting the **New Berlin Borough Office telephone and internet services have been resolved**, and both systems are now back to normal operation. πŸŽ‰

Our office phone system is fully operational, and we are once again able to receive calls and access our Borough email and online communication systems as usual.

We sincerely appreciate everyone's **patience, understanding, and cooperation** while our service provider worked through what turned out to be a more involved issue than initially expected. We know that being unable to reach the Borough Office or knowing whether a voicemail was received was frustrating and inconvenient, and we truly appreciate everyone's patience while we worked to get everything back up and running.

**If you attempted to contact the Borough Office during the outage and did not receive a response, please contact us again**, as we unfortunately have no record of calls or voicemails that were lost during the phone-system failure.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding!

πŸ“’ **NEW BERLIN BOROUGH OFFICE β€” PHONE & INTERNET SERVICE**

Good Afternoon,

We want to let residents and community center renters know that we are currently experiencing significant issues with both our **telephone and internet services** on our service provider end.

Although the police department telephone system does not appear to be affected, if you cannot get through to us on that number and are experiencing a situation that cannot wait, call 911.

**For emergencies, always call 911**

If you called the New Berlin Borough Office after approximately 10:00 a.m. yesterday, September 24, 2026, you may have experienced a busy signal, no dial tone, or other difficulties connecting. Even if you were able to leave a voicemail, **we are unable to access those messages.** The same issue is still affecting our system today, if you call we likely will not know.

Unfortunately, any voicemail left during this outage was lost, and we have no way of knowing that you called.

Our service provider is actively working to identify and correct the issues. As part of their troubleshooting, our entire phone system has had to be reset. At this time, **we do not have an estimated time for when normal service will be fully restored.**

We are also experiencing problems with our **internet service**, which means that while Borough staff are in the office while our ISP is here working on the issue, we currently have limited ability to communicate through our Borough email or any online communication system. We are able to use personal mobile devices for essential communications, including this post. If they cannot fix it today, they will be back on Monday to try again.

Because our systems are being entirely reset, there will also be additional work required once the provider's service is restored. We will need to reconfigure our modem before some of our systems are fully operational again which will be our first priority.

**If you contact the Borough Office during this outage and have do received a response, please contact us again once service has been restored.** We unfortunately have no record of calls or voicemails that were lost during the phone-system failure.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause the public. Please know that our isp is working to restore communications systems to us as quickly as possible, but the issue seems to be more involved than what they typically experience. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation while these issues are being addressed.

Thank you,
New Berlin Borough

🚨⚠️ SCAM ALERT! ⚠️🚨
πŸ“’ Important information from Union County Planning β€” Please be aware and stay alert! πŸ›‘οΈ

Numerous county planning agencies in Pennsylvania have learned that scammers are posing as planning officials sending phony letters or e-mail messages urging recipients to settle fictitious debts or pay purportedly government-related fees and invoices.

In some cases, scammers have gleaned information from public documents, meeting minutes, or recent subdivision and land development applications.

The Union County Planning Commission handles all billing the old-fashioned way: on paper sent via the US Postal Service. Individuals may call our Office at 570-524-3840 to verify the legitimacy of any quoted fee or invoice.

We have no evidence this has occurred yet in Union County, but we wanted to proactively warn our constituents about reports from other counties. Individuals should check with the appropriate agency/office before paying any fee or invoice allegedly quoted by a government authority, particularly if received by email.
