🌟 Employee Spotlight: Karen Mohr 🌟
Craven County Hospice is proud to celebrate Karen Mohr, recently named Craven County Health Department’s Employee of the Quarter!

Karen has been an important part of our hospice team for nearly two years and was promoted to Clinical Supervisor in December 2025. During a recent nursing vacancy, Karen continued carrying a patient caseload while also fulfilling her responsibilities, always with a positive attitude and dedication to her team and patients.

From supporting and encouraging staff to reviewing referrals, completing admissions, communicating with providers, taking overnight call, and helping our team transition to a new EMR system, Karen continues to step up wherever she is needed.

We are incredibly proud to have Karen as part of Craven County Hospice and thrilled to see her hard work and dedication recognized by the Health Department. Congratulations, Karen, this recognition is well deserved! 💙

⭐ We’re proud to share some exciting news! ⭐

As of May 2026, Craven County Hospice continues to maintain our 5-Star Rating with CMS! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This rating is especially meaningful to us because it reflects feedback from bereaved family members following the loss of their loved one. Their experiences speak to what has always been at the heart of our mission: quality over quantity.

As a smaller, community-based hospice, we may not have the size of a large corporate agency, and we consider that one of our strengths. Our nurses carry smaller caseloads, helping promote continuity of care, and the compassionate, individualized attention every family deserves.

💡 Did you know you can compare hospice providers?

Medicare’s Hospice Care Compare allows you to compare up to three hospice agencies side by side and review quality measures, family caregiver experience data, and star ratings.

🔗 Compare hospice providers here:
https://www.medicare.gov/care-compare/?providerType=Hospice

When choosing hospice, we encourage families to look at the data, ask questions, and choose the care that feels right for their loved one.

Five stars. Local care. A commitment to quality. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A powerful statement from Gabby this morning. We never know what feelings are hidden behind a smile or tears. Kindness prevails and is not forgotten.

We often think that if we laugh again, smile again, or find moments of peace, it must mean we are becoming less sad.

I don't believe that's true. I think grief is something we learn to carry... along with everything else we are feeling.

Don't be surprised when you discover your heart has room for more than one feeling at a time.

Love and grief.
Joy and longing.
Peace and sadness.

They can all exist together.

So if you don't see the tears you expected from me, please don't mistake that for the absence of sadness.

What you see... and what I carry... are not always the same.

Happy Nurses Week to our incredible hospice nurses at Craven County Hospice 💙

We wanted to get a picture with everyone together, but our nurses are always on the go — caring for patients, supporting families, and showing up wherever they’re needed most. So while we may not have captured everyone in one photo, we couldn’t let the week pass without celebrating them.

Their compassion, dedication, patience, and hearts for hospice care make a difference every single day. We are beyond grateful for each and every one of them. Thank you for all you do for our patients, families, and community. 🩺✨

Love was in the air — and so was a little hospice magic 💍❤️

Congratulations to Tiffany and Bert Cranor! When Tiffany joined our team as a nurse not long ago, moving here from Ohio without family nearby, it didn’t take long for her to become part of our hospice family. We quickly knew she was one of our own.

When we heard Tiffany and Bert were planning a simple trip to the Justice of the Peace, our team couldn’t let that happen without a little celebration. In true hospice family fashion, we secretly came together to surprise them with a bridal shower and wedding.

Wishing Tiffany and Bert a lifetime of love and happiness. We’re so grateful we got to be a small part of such a beautiful beginning. 💐✨

Despite the sadness of meeting folks at the end of their lives, we still find reason to laugh with one another through the day. On that same token, we also sometimes cry together. Workplace culture is constantly evolving in any office setting. Our lives are woven together with the same passion of seeking contentment and gratification with what we do with our time at work and the people we touch in our community. -clayton
