RENEWAL LEVY

It's important that our community have the opportunity to look at the “actual” ballot language and the historical records.

The current ballot says this is a renewal of an existing levy for current operating expenses.
It specifies a fixed amount of $712,000 per year for five years.

That number is important.

1982: The former New Carlisle-Bethel Local School District ballot shows a fixed amount of $712,000 per year, at an estimated 7 mills.

2021: Tecumseh voters approved a five-year 2.13-mill renewal levy generating $712,000 per year.

2026: The current ballot again specifies $712,000 per year, but the estimated millage is now 1.31 mills, or approximately $46 per $100,000 of market value.

When we talk about this levy, there is an important distinction between the amount the levy is authorized to generate and the millage rate used to collect that amount.

The current ballot does not say, "Let's collect more than the existing $712,000." It says renewing an existing levy with a fixed annual amount of $712,000.

I'm sharing the actual documents so everyone can read them for themselves. Facts matter and we owe it to each other to share the facts.

Please vote YES for Tecumseh Local Schools on November 3rd.
