Chair Caudle's statement on Rep. Hensley's announcement of not running again:

“Flipping the 9th Representative District has long been a priority for Delaware Democrats, and we have been well-positioned to compete for and win this seat in 2026. We have a strong field of Democratic candidates ready to fight for working families in the MOT community and deliver the forward-looking leadership this district deserves.

We wish Rep. Hensley good health and affordable care.”

The New Castle County Democratic Committee joins the State Party in sending our condolences to Systma-Sherman family on the passing of David.

The Delaware Democratic Party is heartbroken by the passing of David Sytsma-Sherman, a deeply committed member of the Wilmington 8th Ward Democratic Committee and a true champion for his community. David gave his time, energy, and heart to the work he believed in, and his kindness, passion, and dedication touched so many. We hold his family, friends, and fellow Democrats close in our thoughts during this painful time. David’s spirit and service will always be remembered, and his absence will be deeply felt.
