Hurricane Milton caused more damage to some barrier islands that were still recovering from a previous hurricane. Storm surge swept into some of the same areas hit by Hurricane Ian two years ago. Milton also dumped feet of sand in some neighborhoods. NBC News' Sam Brock reports.

Hurricane Milton left widespread destruction on the Gulf Coast of Florida and more damage to some barrier islands. Storm surges flooded some communities with torrential rains of up to a foot or more rain, leading to hundreds of rescues. Milton also spawned a deadly outbreak of tornadoes, with more than three dozen twisters reported in the state. At least 12 people have been reported killed, including six people at a retirement community because of a tornado. Watch the latest in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton.
