Foodie Friday was created to showcase the local restaurants and small businesses that are part of Clarkstown’s community and help residents and visitors discover more of what our Town has to offer.

Since the series began, we visited businesses throughout Clarkstown and heard directly from local owners about their experience being featured and the response they’ve seen from the community.

Thank you to all of the local businesses that have welcomed us, and to everyone who continues to support Clarkstown’s small business community.

It was publicly reported by the media that at a press conference held yesterday, Highway Superintendent Bob Milone initiated an altercation with Town Supervisor George Hoehmann. A media outlet covering the press conference recorded part of that interaction and published a widely circulated video of the incident.

Following the incident, a police report was filed, and the town’s Safety Compliance Officer was notified. A formal workplace violence investigation has been launched as a result of this video. The Town of Clarkstown takes violations of workplace safety and threats or acts of violence seriously, and will thoroughly review the matter.

It should be noted that the town annually provides workplace violence safety training to both elected officials and employees regarding appropriate workplace behavior, and avenues are provided where they can confidentially report any concerns they might have regarding workplace safety.

As a matter of general policy, the Town does not comment on individual personnel matters. The Town takes all complaints of workplace violence very seriously. We are committed to maintaining a safe and respectful work environment for every employee. We maintain rigorous procedures that ensure all complaints brought to our attention are thoroughly reviewed and appropriately addressed.

Today, Supervisor George Hoehmann and Council members Mike Graziano and Bob Axelrod were proud to announce repair work has begun for Congers Lake Trailway. The trailway has been closed, from location markers 47-54, since April 2026 due to a number of support pilings separating from the decking. Additional supports will now be added to support the boardwalk decking from underneath.

Town engineers worked to obtain the necessary determinations from the New York State DEC. Throughout the summer our engineers developed a construction plan and the town recently completed the bid process for the work.

The Town’s contractor has commenced work this week and has a 30 day contract to complete the work. The expected date of completion is estimated to be mid-November. Once completed, residents will be able to make a full loop around the lake again when using the trailway.

Supervisor George Hoehmann said, “We’re thrilled to have the Congers Lake Trailway restored for residents to have full access around the lake once again. The Congers Lake Trailway is one of the crown jewels of our park system and we’re incredibly happy that residents will be able to fully enjoy all it has to offer again in the fall season. Thank you to all the town staff that worked diligently to make this happen.”
