I was at Nanuet Restaurant with Town Clerk Lauren Marie, Superintendent of Highways candidate Rob Sambevski, RC Young Republican’s President Aidan Rowan, and Congressman Mike Lawler’s staff members Will Scholtes and Jack Tinari, as well as other members of the Nanuet Civic Association and high school volunteers, to help the Nanuet Civic Association stuff 500 bags of handouts from businesses and candidates within the Nanuet area.
They will be handed out to the first 500 patrons attending the Nanuet Street Fair this Sunday, June 7th, from 10:00am-5:00pm. It’s a great event for all family members, so please come out and enjoy 😊

Last night Supervisor George Hoehmann and I attended the Congregation Shire Shalom Reception, honoring Rabbi Paul Kurland, who is retiring, and his wife Gerri. Rabbi Kurland served the Nanuet Jewish Center and Congregation Shire Shalom for the past 28 years.
Rabbi Kurland has also served as president of the Rockland Board of Rabbis, the Lower Hudson Valley Region of the Rabbinical Assembly, and the Clarkstown Board of Ethics.
I wish him and his family well on his retirement, and thank him for all his contributions to the community.

On Wednesday, Supervisor George Hoehman and I attended the official grand opening of the New York Pickleball Club, in the Stop and Shop Shopping Center in New City.
There were many patrons at the Club to participate in the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Most of these individuals were there to play pickleball, occupying all nine amazing pickleball courts.
Congratulations to owners Dave and Laura Rose on what looks to be a highly successful enterprise. Pickleball is the latest craze, and now New City has joined the mania.
The NY Pickleball Club also boasts a dedicated room for MahJong players. Great concept, great all around setting!!

Yesterday, I attended a few Memorial Day events, along with a few of my colleagues, to pay homage to our nation’s veterans for the ultimate sacrifice they had given to our nation in service to our country.
The first visit was to the Palisades Mall, where a tribute was made to the Buffalo Soldiers who had given their lives to protect our nation throughout our history. A special posthumous recognition was given to seven men from Rockland County, who served in the military and gave much to the community. This was followed by a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Veterans’ Monument at the Nanuet Train Station. The day concluded with a short but solemn ceremony at the American Legion Hall, in New City.
There were many who attended these ceremonies to honor our fallen veterans, and to show that we will never forget them. It’s a privilege to be part of this community.

Congers Veterans’ Memorial Day Parade on Saturday morning met with a bit of rain but commenced with much fanfare to honor our military veterans who sacrificed their lives to protect our country, our loved ones and our freedom. There’s no better words to express the meaning of Memorial Day than with the words in Lee Greenwood’s song God Bless the USA, “I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free, and I won’t forget the men who died who gave that right to me”.

Yesterday I attended in the Indian Cultural Society of Rockland County annual Wellness 5K Walk or Run event. Supervisor George Hoehmann was given the honor of cutting the ribbon to begin the event. It was also attended by Senator Bill Weber, his Chief of Staff Jon Mulgrew, Legislator Aney Paul, and Candidate Rob Sambevski.

Yesterday, I participated in the replacing flags event at Oak Hill Cemetery, along with Senator Bill Weber, his Chief of Staff Jon Mulgrew, members of the VFW Post 9215 and CR & RO Blauvelt American Legion Post 310, and scouts of America. There are over 900 veterans buried at Oak Hill with two of them being Medal of Honor recipients. This is a tradition since 1868, to place either flowers, wreaths, or flag on the graves our military heroes, to pay homage to them, and show that we will never forget.
