🤖 AI tools can accelerate our work, but blind trust creates major mission vulnerabilities.

As part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, DLA is highlighting safe digital engagement. From data poisoning and AI hallucinations to the risk of accidental Controlled Unclassified Information spills, cyber vigilance is essential:

▪Verify Source Data: Double-check AI-generated information before relying on it.
▪Protect Sensitive Info: Never input private personal details or operational CUI into public AI tools.
▪Pause on Links: Treat unverified prompts, downloads, and attachments with caution.

Stay secure on and off duty: Think before you click.

⚓ Strengthening the Joint Force: Audit readiness at DLA Distribution San Diego 📈

When we secure the supply chain, we secure the mission.

A recent leadership visit to our site in San Diego highlighted a critical DLA Distribution priority: audit readiness. While administrative on the surface, robust inventory management and audit standards are foundational to keeping our Joint Force agile, lethal and ready for any global challenge.

Every item accounted for is a promise kept to our warfighters in the field. By refining our tracking, optimizing warehouse operations, and maintaining strict audit compliance, the San Diego team is ensuring that the right materiel gets exactly where it is needed without delay.

Key Takeaways:
📍Precision Logistics: Accurate record-keeping translates directly to improved supply chain speed and reliability.

🤝Joint Force Integration: Audit compliance ensures seamless, trusted resource distribution across all military branches.

🪖Warfighter Support: Financial and inventory stewardship guarantees we remain efficient and resilient in contested environments.

🎖️ Exceptional leadership recognized in Sigonella! 📦⚓

The Office of the Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Daryl Caudle presented a CNO challenge coin to Jimmy Martinez, deputy commander of DLA Distribution Sigonella, Italy, for outstanding leadership during a massive logistics surge.

When forward-theater support abruptly shifted, Martinez and his relentless team stepped up to deliver a whopping 90% of their typical annual volume in a single month, directly sustaining both the Gerald R. Ford and Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Groups.

Martinez dedicated the honor to the entire Sigonella workforce, proving that when the fleet faces urgent demands, DLA Distribution delivers shore-to-ship readiness.

📦 "Your package delivery failed. Click here to verify your address..."

Sound familiar? It’s a busy evening, your phone buzzes with an urgent delivery notice, and a link asks for a quick $1 redelivery fee. Minutes later, scammers have your personal credentials.

This is "smishing" (SMS phishing), and it works by exploiting trust and urgency.

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and staying cyber-ready starts at home. Defending your personal digital footprint protects your family and safeguards our global logistics mission.

🛡️ 4 Quick Cyber Habits to Practice Today:
▪Use Passphrases: String 4+ random words together (like Coffee-Bicycle-Sunshine-Window) for easy-to-remember, hard-to-crack protection.
▪Turn On MFA: Enable Multi-Factor Authentication on your email, banking, and social accounts.
▪Isolate Smart Devices: Put smart TVs and home appliances on a separate "Guest" Wi-Fi network.
▪Stop & Verify: Never click a link or call a number in an unsolicited alert. Verify directly via the official company app or site.

⚓Midnight logistics mission: Delivering critical submarine support under pressure🌊

When an urgent mechanical requirement threatened the operational timeline of the fast-attack submarine USS Albany late on a Saturday night, the dedicated team at DLA Distribution Susquehanna jumped into action.

Alerted on his day off, Emergency Supply Operations Center team lead Dakotah Crone immediately coordinated with the submarine's command and transport teams. He worked late into the night to locate, pack, and prepare the critical part for a successful Sunday morning handover - keeping the vessel firmly on schedule.

By early Sunday morning, the part was successfully handed over to the Navy courier team, keeping the USS Albany on schedule and mission-ready!

"While after-hours requests are rare, their urgent nature requires us to immediately dedicate the necessary resources to meet the warfighter's critical schedule."
- Dakotah Crone, ESOC Team Lead
