Highlighting the vision behind MAHA on Water, Dr. Shivkumar Kalyanaraman, CEO, ANRF, emphasized the mission’s role in strengthening India’s water research and innovation ecosystem. By fostering collaboration among academia, research institutions, industry, startups and government agencies, MAHA on Water aims to accelerate high-impact research and develop scalable solutions for water security, climate resilience and sustainable water management

Shri V.L. Kantha Rao, Secretary DoWR, RD & GR ~ Water is a pervasive resource that impacts every aspect of life, making R&D in water as important as in any other sector. Given India’s large population and growing water challenges, there is a need for cutting-edge innovations across drinking water, groundwater, surface water, flood forecasting and river health. Through collaboration with the Department of Space, DST, ANRF and CSIR, we seek to leverage science, technology and research to strengthen water security, improve early warning systems and address emerging challenges such as river pollution and groundwater depletion.

The workshop also witnessed the signing of the Ministry of Jal Shakti–ISRO MoU with Dr. V. Narayanan, Chairman, ISRO and Secretary, Department of Space, underscoring the potential of space technology, remote sensing and geospatial applications in water resources management, emphasizing the integration of satellite data with field observations for informed, data-driven water governance and research.
