Crime prevention is something everyone can take part in. Small, everyday steps can make a big difference in protecting your home, vehicle, and property.

A few simple reminders:
- Lock your vehicles and remove valuables from plain view.
- Keep garage doors closed and secured when not in use.
- Use exterior lighting around your home, especially near entrances.
- Consider using security cameras or doorbell cameras.
- Avoid leaving packages unattended for extended periods of time.
- Get to know your neighbors and look out for one another.
- Report suspicious activity when you see it.

If something does not look or feel right, trust your instincts and contact our police department. In an emergency, always call 911.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Domestic violence can affect anyone, regardless of age, background, or circumstance. As a community, we all have a role in promoting safe homes, supporting survivors, and making sure those experiencing abuse know they are not alone. Our department stands with survivors of domestic violence and remains committed to protecting victims, connecting individuals with available resources, and holding offenders accountable.

If you are experiencing domestic violence, or if you are concerned about someone you know, please reach out for help. Support and resources are available, and you do not have to face it alone.

In an emergency, call 911.

W. Nimisila Road is closed between Pearlman Road and Harter Home Drive due to a single vehicle crash involving a utility pole and wires. The roadway is expected to remain closed for some time.

Please use an alternate route and stay away from any downed wires. We will provide an update when the road reopens.

Child Passenger Safety Week is September 20–26!

Keeping our youngest passengers' safe starts with making sure they are properly secured every time they ride. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 46% of car seats and booster seats have been found to contain at least one major installation or use error that could reduce their effectiveness in a crash. Here in Ohio, 67% of child passengers under age 13 who were killed in crashes in 2025 were unrestrained. Additionally, 8 children were killed and 53 others were seriously injured due to not being properly restrained.

The graphic below highlights some of the key provisions of Ohio’s child passenger safety laws and is intended as a quick reference for parents and caregivers. Additional requirements, exceptions, or circumstances may apply. Please take a moment to make sure your child is riding in the appropriate car seat, booster seat, or seat belt for their age and size.

Buckle up every trip, every time.
