When you make a taxable purchase in a community with Local Option Sales Tax (LOST), an additional 1% is collected. That money is distributed back to local governments and can be used to help fund local needs. For the current fiscal year, New Hampton is estimated to receive about $626,000 in LOST funds--those dollars help support things like infrastructure, street improvements, and other community needs.
When you choose a New Hampton business instead of taking your shopping dollars elsewhere, youโre supporting a local business, its employees and our local economy. And when that purchase is subject to LOST, 1% of that purchase helps generate revenue that comes back to our community. โค
