SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT

At approximately 6:45 a.m. this morning, the New Hartford Fire Department was dispatched to a two car motor vehicle accident involving a rollover on State Route 12, with initial reports of an occupant being ejected from a vehicle.

Upon arrival, New Hartford Fire and EMS personnel immediately began assessing and providing emergency medical care to those involved.

Due to the severity of injuries sustained by one of the patients, an air medical helicopter was requested to the scene for transport to a regional trauma center.

NHFD crews established and secured a landing zone at Sherrill Brook Park, where patient care was transferred to the flight crew of LifeNet 7-14 for air medical transport to Upstate University Hospital.

The New Hartford Police Department, Edwards Ambulance Service, and New York State Department of Transportation also assisted at the scene.

We thank all responding agencies for their coordination and teamwork in providing care to those involved.

* UPDATE*

Serious Personal Injury Motor Vehicle Collision – State Route 12

On Thursday morning, October 15, 2026, the New Hartford Police Department responded to a serious personal injury motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles on State Route 12 near the entrance to Sherrill Brook Park.

The preliminary investigation determined that a 2024 Jeep operated by Brooke Fanelli, 28, of Utica, was traveling southbound on State Route 12 when a vehicle operated by Natalie Smith, 22, of Whitesboro, was traveling northbound on Rt 12 and attempted to make a left-hand turn into Sherrill Brook Park, resulting in a collision.

Following the impact, Fanelli’s vehicle overturned multiple times. Fanelli sustained multiple serious injuries and was transported by medical helicopter from the scene to a Syracuse-area hospital for further treatment. Smith sustained minor injuries.

As a result of the initial investigation, Smith has been issued traffic tickets for failing to yield the right of way, and making an improper turn.

🇺🇸 9/11 MEMORIAL WALK

Today, the New Hartford Fire Department hosted our annual 9/11 Memorial Walk through the Village of New Hartford.

Approximately 45 firefighters, family members, and members of our community joined together to walk 3.43 miles in honor and remembrance of the 343 FDNY members who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

We were honored to be joined by members of the Clayville, Clinton, Sauquoit, and Oriskany Falls Fire Departments, as well as members of the New Hartford Police Department.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to walk in their memory, honor their sacrifice, and remember all those whose lives were lost and forever changed on September 11, 2001.

Thank you to everyone who walked alongside us and helped make this meaningful tradition possible.
