Honoring a True EMS Pioneer and Community Leader 🖤

AMR New Haven extends our deepest condolences to the Latorraca family on the passing of Bob Latorraca, a visionary leader, dedicated public servant, and beloved member of our EMS family.
Bob devoted his life to serving others, leaving an immeasurable impact on New Haven County, the EMS profession, and countless individuals whose lives were forever changed by his compassion and leadership.

His career in public service began in 1975 as an Emergency Medical Technician with New Haven Ambulance. From the very beginning, Bob's commitment to helping people and advancing patient care was evident. Among his many accomplishments was the establishment of the first neonatal transport contract for Yale New Haven Hospital, helping ensure specialized care for some of our region's most vulnerable patients.

As New Haven Ambulance evolved into one of the four founding companies of American Medical Response, Bob's vision and leadership helped shape the future of emergency medical services nationwide. He ultimately rose to serve as Chief Executive Officer of AMR's Eastern Region, leading more than 8,500 employees across 23 states. Yet despite his remarkable professional achievements, Bob always measured success by the people he served and the lives he improved.

His dedication extended far beyond EMS. Bob generously gave his time and talents to numerous community organizations, including the Hamden Fire Commission, Hamden Police Commission, Shirley Frank Foundation, Columbus Day Parade Committee, Unitas Club, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), and Porcini International. He believed deeply in giving back and worked tirelessly to strengthen the community he loved.

Bob's selflessness was perhaps most evident during our nation's most challenging moments. Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, he led AMR personnel from Connecticut and New York to support FDNY operations. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, he made numerous trips to the Gulf Coast to help coordinate relief efforts, continuing his lifelong mission of serving those in need.

Today, we remember Bob not only for his extraordinary accomplishments, but for his character, generosity, and unwavering commitment to others. His legacy will continue to inspire EMS professionals and community leaders for generations to come.
Please join us in keeping the Latorraca family and all who knew and loved Bob in your thoughts and prayers.

Rest in peace, Bob. Thank you for a lifetime of service.

2 Charlie O’Neill here 🚑🚨

It’s not everyday you get to work with your family!
We are very lucky to have both Tom and Rob as apart of our crew. Both boys have been working with us as EMTs and they are nothing short of dedicated, hard working, and skilled individuals! They show up day in and day out with a positive attitude and enthusiasm ready for whatever New Haven throws their way.

So the next time you think you’re seeing double, you might just be seeing these two! (And yes, the mustache is mandatory so we can all tell them apart) 💪🏼
