Fun Fire Fact Friday! Did you know that there are different classes of fire? You might have seen this if you have a fire extinguisher.

Fire extinguishers are a great tool to have if you ever have a smaller fire in your home or garage. Most fire extinguishers you buy at the store are going to be ABC extinguishers. They will put out any fires involving ordinary combustibles, flammable liquids, and live electrical equipment.

Remember to stand just far enough away to not get burned by the fire and use the P.A.S.S. acronym.

Pull the pin
Aim the nozzle
Squeeze the handle
Sweep the nozzle to get ALL the fire

West Metro Fire and New Hope Police Department are partnering up to skate with you on November 22nd from 4-6 PM. There will be free hot chocolate! ⛸️

Today, we want to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness.

1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
382,640 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
1,048 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer today.
5 women will be lost to breast cancer this hour.

For all of those affected by breast cancer, we support you. Please know that there are people who can help you with what you are going through.

If someone you care about is going through breast cancer, don’t underestimate the power of reaching out. Send a message with a quote. Let them know you’re thinking of them. And if you’re the one facing a breast cancer diagnosis, we hope these words offer comfort or help you feel understood.

Firefighter Spotlight! This week we are highlighting our award winners from the 2026 West Metro Fire banquet. Each of these people earned what they were awarded, as the voting comes from their peers. We could not be prouder of each and every one of them. Like an eternal flame, their names are forever burned into West Metro History.

Congrats to all the winners and a bigger thanks to their families who allow them to spend an enormous amount of time serving the community at the highest level!

Safe Charging Is a Superpower!

Fire Prevention Week is October 4–10th!

“Charge Into Fire Safety” focuses on the everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires and keep homes and communities safer.

Plug in. Power up. Stay safe.

We are also kicking off our fire safety education classes for the Fall semester. As always, K-2nd grade classes will be receiving a visit from West Metro Fire, where they will learn about safe habits, what to do when there is fire and smoke in the residence, and their favorite: a chance to see and get on the fire truck!

We will update every week on which school we were at, with a photo included! 🏫🚒

Fun Fire Fact Friday! Did you know that West Metro Fire is in the process of replacing our Rescue trucks?

After many meetings and collaborations between our logistics team and the builder, this is what has been decided! What do you guys think?

With the amount of tools and gear they will carry, our new Rescue trucks will be state-of-the-art, with only the best tech to best serve the community!

(In all seriousness, the Rescue trucks are a work in progress, but in no way, shape, or form will they look like what you see) 😉

Community Spotlight! This week we want to show gratitude towards our local police department.

This past Sunday, City of Crystal Police Department and West Metro Fire played a friendly game of kickball. Crystal PD started with a 3-run 1st inning with a booming kick to left field.

West Metro Fire couldn't find their groove all game on offense, scoring 0 runs in the first 6 innings. Defense was a different story. 2 stalled opportunities with the bases loaded allowed for a classic scripted comeback.

West Metro Fire tied the game up in the bottom of the 7th to force extra innings. After 3 no-scoring innings for Crystal PD, bases were loaded with 2 outs for Fire, and you guessed it, Chief Josh Kunde stepped up to the plate, knocked the ball to the right infield, and legged out an infield single to bring home the winning run.

Walking tacos and stretch exercises were conducted afterwards as a group. City of Crystal Police Department were good sports and played with utmost professionalism. Thank you Crystal PD!
