ONE BOOK, ONE REGION Mitchell College recently hosted the One Book, One Region kickoff event, attended by an engaged crowd of community readers. Speaker Kevin Booker, Jr. inspired the audience with a presentation of author Daniel Black’s essay “Reasons I Write,” movingly delivered by students, staff, and community members. He also highlighted the universal themes of this year’s featured book, Black’s “Don’t Cry for Me, A Novel.” Attendees discussed spirituality, gender norms, parent expectation, generational trauma, death, and forgiveness.

Be part of the community read! The program culminates with an author talk on March 31 at Connecticut College. Borrow a book at your local library or purchase a copy for your own library! Learn more at onebookoneregion.org.
