This morning, our neighbors, friends, families, and community leaders gathered to remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001, and to honor the strength, courage, and unity that followed.

May we always remember those we lost and never forget the spirit of togetherness that brought us closer in the days that followed.

Never forget.

New Milford, you might want to know about this one!

There’s a local farm growing some pretty amazing things right here in town, and chances are you may not have discovered it yet.

Meet Jonathan and Jennifer, the couple behind Freedom Farm Homestead Inc.. What began in their backyard in 2024 has grown into a veteran owned family farm producing fresh vegetables, beautiful cut flowers, and pasture raised poultry, all right here in New Milford on the stunning Finnegan's Farm, West property.

Their vegetables and flowers are grown using no till practices, without fertilizers or pesticides, and their farm fresh chicken includes whole birds, individual cuts, ground chicken and specialty sausages. They also carry beef from The Striped Cow located on Long Mountain Road, Goatboy Soaps, and other items.

If you love discovering local farms, fresh food and hidden gems in New Milford, SHARE this post with someone who should know about Freedom Farm Homestead.

And tell us below... have you been there yet? What would you pick up first?
**************************************************************
The roadside farm stand is open 24/7 on the honor system.
You can pay in three ways: cash in the lockbox, Venmo/Zelle at the QR code on the wall, or by placing an order ahead on their website for pickup.

Happy Fresh Friday!
🚜
If you’ve never stopped by Sullivan Farm, it’s worth a visit!
This beautiful piece of New Milford has been part of our community since 1841. Today the 109 acre property is owned by the Town of New Milford and continues to be a place where people, particularly youth can connect with the land.

The farm stand is a great example of that, offering fresh local produce while keeping a little piece of New Milford’s farming tradition alive. (See photos for some items available this week, to include freshly dug potatoes, sweet corn, and peaches)

Sullivan Farm is also home to hands on farming programs for local young people, blacksmithing classes, beekeeping, walking and cross country ski trails, and the Great Brook Sugar House. There’s a lot of history here, to include recent successes as evidenced by a host of awards from this years Bridgewater, CT Annual Country Fair.

Stop by the farm stand, take a walk, and enjoy one of those places that makes New Milford feel like home!
