Big hardware for a big mission.

This week, the 130-foot-tall liquid hydrogen tank for Artemis IV made its way to the vertical assembly building here at . Up next, teams will attach roll rings to the hardware in preparation for primer application. The rings allow technicians to rotate the tank to gain access to various areas during the production process.

As part of the SLS (Space Launch System) core stage, the tank will hold thousands of gallons of super-cold propellant to fuel the rocket’s four RS-25 engines, helping generate more than 2 million pounds of thrust at launch.

10/02/2026

Earlier today, experts discussed the RS-25 engine and its role in Artemis missions during a webinar tailored specifically for the blind and low-vision community. The recording of that webinar is available in the comments.

We've got your nose(cones)!

NASA’s twin SLS (Space Launch System) solid rocket boosters for Artemis III are now fully stacked. Engineers have finished integrating the nose cones onto the left and right forward assemblies inside the Vehicle Assembly Building at NASA's Kennedy Space Center.

Each forward assembly contains an aerodynamic top, a forward skirt housing avionics, and frustum housing motors that allow the boosters to separate from the SLS core stage after launch.

✈️NASA is helping build the future of air travel — one runway at a time!

NASA and Boeing are testing new airport technology that gives pilots digital taxi routes and uses sensors to spot vehicles or aircraft in the wrong place.

The goal? Less miscommunication, lighter workloads, and safer, smoother airport operations.
