๐Ÿšจ PROTECT OUR YOUTH. EVERY LIFE IS PRECIOUS. ๐Ÿšจ

The fire challenge is an extremely dangerous social media trend that involves people setting themselves on fire or igniting flammable substances on their bodies. It's not fun, and it's not funny.

NOFD Superintendent Roman Nelson and NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick have an important message for our community about the dangers of this challenge.

Parents, talk to your children about dangerous social media trends and peer pressure. Young people, your life is not worth the risk.

๐Ÿ“ข Watch and share this important public service announcement to help protect our youth.

Fire is unpredictable. Every life is precious.

๐Ÿž๐Ÿชฒ BUGS, BEETLES & FIRE SAFETY! ๐Ÿš’

The New Orleans Fire Department was excited to be part of the 6th Annual NOLA BugFest, hosted by the New Orleans Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board! ๐ŸŽ‰

This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œHabitats in Nature: Exploring the Vibrant World of Insects and Rodents,โ€ brought together science, discovery, and fun for the whole family!

From exploring insect habitats and cheering on their favorite bugs in the Beetle Race to getting an up-close look at the NOFD fire truck with our firefighters, there was plenty to discover! ๐Ÿ›๐Ÿ”ฌ

At our outreach table, we shared fire safety information and handed out activity books, crayons, and hats to help families and children learn about fire safety in a fun and engaging way. ๐Ÿ–๏ธโค๏ธ

Weโ€™re proud to connect with our community and join our partners in creating opportunities to learn, explore, and stay safe!

A snapshot of firefighting history.

This photograph from 1949 offers a look back at a steam engine from an earlier era of the fire service.

Long before todayโ€™s modern fire apparatus and technology, steam-powered equipment played an important role in the evolution of firefighting.

Nearly eight decades later, the equipment has changed, but the mission remains the same: respond, protect and serve.

Take a look back at this piece of New Orleans Fire Department history. ๐Ÿš’

๐Ÿš’ NOFD Battles Two-Alarm Fire in the 1900 Block of N. Rocheblave St.

Early this morning, Monday, October 12, the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to a two-alarm fire in the 1900 block of N. Rocheblave Street.

When the first firefighters arrived at 6:19 a.m., they found a small bus, an unoccupied double and an unoccupied two-story fourplex heavily involved in flames. A second alarm was requested as crews worked to contain the fire to the properties involved when they arrived.

As a precaution, firefighters removed an elderly woman from a neighboring duplex. A total of 17 NOFD units and 46 Fire Operations personnel brought the fire under control at 7:28 a.m.

An NOFD investigator has been requested to determine the probable cause of the fire.
