Consul General Rodolphe Sambou was pleased to welcome New Orleans Mayor Helena Moreno to Paris and accompany her on a visit to the Austerlitz stormwater storage facility, organized as an opportunity to discover Paris’s approach and explore new avenues for cooperation between our two cities.

Le Consul gĂ©nĂ©ral Rodolphe Sambou a eu le plaisir d’accueillir Ă  Paris la maire de La Nouvelle-OrlĂ©ans Helena Moreno et de l’accompagner lors d’une visite de la station de stockage des eaux de pluie d’Austerlitz, organisĂ©e afin de dĂ©couvrir les solutions parisiennes et d’explorer de nouvelles pistes de coopĂ©ration entre nos deux villes.

đŸ‡ș🇾 The Consulate General of France in Louisiana extends its deepest condolences on the passing of Shirley Guidry, the last of Louisiana’s “Frenchies.”

A French-speaking Cajun, Shirley was just 18 when he served in Europe with the 244th Combat Engineers, contributing to the liberation of Europe and forging a lasting bond with the French people.

With his passing, a living chapter of our shared history comes to a close.

May he rest in peace. France will not forget him. đŸ‡«đŸ‡·đŸ‡ș🇾

đŸ‡«đŸ‡· Le Consulat gĂ©nĂ©ral de France en Louisiane prĂ©sente ses plus sincĂšres condolĂ©ances Ă  la suite de la disparition de Shirley Guidry, dernier des « Frenchies » de Louisiane.

Cajun francophone, Shirley n’avait que 18 ans lorsqu’il servit en Europe au sein du 244th Combat Engineers, contribuant Ă  la libĂ©ration de l’Europe et tissant un lien durable avec le peuple français.

Last night, we were delighted to welcome New Orleans Saints owner Gayle Benson, members of the Saints organization, and leaders from Louisiana’s business, civic and cultural communities to the RĂ©sidence de France.

With the Saints heading to Paris, this historic game is more than a celebration of football: it is another bridge between France and Louisiana, and a great opportunity to create new connections and partnerships across the Atlantic.

What better way to kick off Festival Acadiens et Créoles than by cutting the boudin?

Always such a pleasure to be back in Lafayette and see our friends and partners who play such an essential role in keeping Louisiana’s Francophone heritage alive.

Consul General Rodolphe Sambou joined the opening ceremony to celebrate the traditions that make Cajun and Creole culture such a vibrant part of Louisiana’s culture.

As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, Festival Acadiens et CrĂ©oles is also a reminder of the French and Francophone heritage woven into the American story, and still very much alive today.

C’est toujours un immense plaisir de retrouver nos amis et partenaires Ă  Lafayette, qui jouent un rĂŽle essentiel pour faire vivre et rayonner l’hĂ©ritage francophone de la Louisiane.
