The New Orleans Office of Coordination and Emergency Management (NOCEM) is monitoring what is now Tropical Storm Isaias.

The forecast track has shifted east from the previous advisory with Isaias forecast to become a high-end Category 2 hurricane in the next two days as it moves east over the Gulf.

The storm is forecast to turn north on Friday and accelerate, bringing impacts to the northern Gulf coast by Friday afternoon and into Saturday.

Specific impacts will depend on the exact track and intensity of this system as it passes the area, though current forecasts put New Orleans at a marginal risk of localized flooding with rainfall rates in excess of 1-3 inches per hour Friday afternoon into Saturday morning.

Have emergency supplies and plans lined up should the track change and move west towards New Orleans and stay tuned for updates.

The New Orleans Office of Coordination and Emergency Management (NOCEM) is continuing to monitor what has now become Tropical Depression Nine.

Confidence is increasing that Tropical Depression Nine will strengthen into a hurricane and bring impacts to portions of the northern Gulf Coast late this week.

Impacts will depend on the exact track and intensity of this system. However, there is potential that it will bring a multi-hazard threat:
- Increased tides/storm surge
- Heavy rainfall
- Tropical storm force or stronger wind gusts

Much is still unknown as to where in the northern Gulf Coast will see the most impacts.

While we continue to monitor for local impacts, prepare now. Gather supplies, pack a go back and a home kit should either of them be necessary and stay tuned for updates.

The New Orleans Office of Coordination and Emergency Management (NOCEM) is monitoring potential tropical development in the Gulf.

There is a HIGH (80%) chance of tropical cyclone development over the next 2 days.

This system is forecast to move generally eastward and then northward and could bring some impacts to the northern Gulf coast in the next 4 to 6 days (generally Friday through Sunday).

Confidence in the development of a tropical depression or storm in the southwest Gulf over the next 2 days continues to increase but the extent and timing of impacts to the local area remain uncertain.

Now is the time to prepare a go bag and a home kit and monitor trusted sources for the latest information.

NOCEM was proud to join Mayor Helena Moreno and City leadership for the 2027 Budget Community Meetings across all five City Council districts.

These meetings gave residents an opportunity to hear directly from City leadership, ask questions, and share the priorities they want reflected in the City’s upcoming budget.

From District E to last night’s final meeting in District A, we appreciated the opportunity to be present, connect with residents, and hear directly from the communities we serve.

A big thank you to our partners at Ochsner Health for donating two high-water vehicles to support the City of New Orleans’ emergency preparedness and response efforts.

These vehicles strengthen our ability to operate during emergencies when flooded or difficult-to-access roadways can limit traditional vehicles, helping us better support response operations during many weather emergencies!

Preparedness is a shared effort, and partnerships like this help ensure New Orleans has the resources and capabilities needed when our community needs them most.

Thank you, Ochsner, for investing in the preparedness and resilience of New Orleans.

We were honored to celebrate our partners New Orleans Fire Department today in the ribbon cutting of their new head quarters.

Having a space that meets the needs of the 24/7 operations of emergency response is essential! We congratulate them in this new chapter.

Today, we at the New Orleans Office of Coordination and Emergency Management (NOCEM) remember Hurricane Katrina.

Twenty-one years later, we honor the lives lost, the City forever changed, and the strength and resilience of all who endured, returned, and rebuilt.

As we remember Katrina, we carry forward its lessons and remain committed to a safer, stronger, and more prepared New Orleans.

We remember.
