The United Way of Tuscarawas County supports many programs and agencies in our community, but it helps to hear that our support makes a personal impact! This year, we helped Noah through the Tuscarawas County Family and Children First Council.

Yesterday, staff from the United Way of Tuscarawas County had the honor of attending a luncheon at the Ohio Governor's Residence with other Local Program Partners (LPPs) for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library! Thank you to Governor and Mrs. DeWine for the hospitality! We had a great time networking with other LPPs, exploring the Storybook Trail in the garden, and, of course, giving some attention to Dolly the Dog!

Celebrate DOLLY DAY! Last week, Governor DeWine proclaimed September 25th to be Dolly Parton Day in Ohio! Yesterday, folks from the United Way of Tuscarawas County were able to join the Tuscarawas County Commissioners to share updates on our local program, and share details about how we're celebrating Dolly Day!
💡 Did you know?
📗 There are 3,889 children enrolled in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in Tuscarawas County! 4,426 children have graduated from the program since 2020!
📙 Ohio has bilingual English/Spanish books available!
📘 The program is completely FREE to all families, regardless of income.
📕 Newborns can get enrolled in the program right at the hospital!

WHERE’S DOLLY? This week, she’s hanging out at the Daily Grind Cafe in downtown New Philadelphia collecting donations for her Imagination Library! As we lead up to Give Like Dolly Day this Friday 9/25, we’ve partnered with the Daily Grind Cafe to ask folks to donate the cost of “a cup of ambition” in support of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library ☕️

DID YOU KNOW? It costs $2.60 per month to mail one book to one child enrolled in the Imagination Library. Here in Tuscarawas County, the United Way is the Local Program Partner who covers this cost along with funding provided by the state. Just $31 covers the cost for one child enrolled in the program to receive books for a year.

If you plan to start your day with a cup of ambition from the Daily Grind Cafe this week, consider making a donation to the Imagination Library to continue Dolly’s legacy of giving and support of early literacy 📚️ You can also donate securely online here: https://secure.qgiv.com/for/dpil-tc/

Our community is grieving the loss of one of our children. Our hearts are with their family, friends, classmates, teachers and everyone who is hurting in the wake of this tragedy.

No one is expected to navigate the grief that follows a su***de alone. Please know that local support is available for anyone who needs someone to talk to, a safe place to process what they’re feeling, help making sense of what happened, or simply someone willing to sit with them.

As many of you know, there are counselors and resources available within our schools to support students and families.

SpringVale Health Centers also offers a 24/7 Crisis Hotline at 330.343.1811, connecting you directly with a behavioral health professional who can listen, provide support and help connect you with additional resources.

And at RapidCare Behavioral Health Urgent Care, anyone can walk in and speak with a counselor at no cost and without an appointment - all ages are welcome.

If you’re struggling, worried about someone you love, or simply don’t know where to turn, please reach out. You don’t have to face this alone.

Celebrate Dolly Day with us! Stay tuned here to learn about all of the fun activities planned for 9/25!

To celebrate Dolly Parton's life, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel and I signed a proclamation creating Dolly Parton Day, to be observed on September 25, 2026. Dolly spread the values of kindness and generosity around the world, and her legacy will live on through the children who have benefited from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

In Ohio alone, more than one million children from all 88 counties have received a free, high-quality, age-appropriate book in the mail each month since the Imagination Library of Ohio program was established in 2019.

Parents can enroll their children from birth to age five in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio at ohioimaginationlibrary.org
