Van Beuren Road will be closed Wednesday 10/7 and Thursday 10/8 for milling and paving operations. Residents will still have access to their homes. Please follow the posted detours so the work can be safely completed. Thank you!

Our officers had a great time at the Harding Township School Centennial Celebration! Always a pleasure spending time with our students, families, and neighbors.

New look, same great officers!

On Friday, September 25, our officers will begin wearing a new uniform. Our officers have been equipped with load-bearing vests that are designed to improve comfort, mobility, and overall functionality while on duty.

These new vest carriers allow the officers to remove their equipment from their duty belts and place it on their vests, allowing for even weight distribution while reducing strain on their lower backs and hips.

This upgrade helps keep our officers safe, comfortable, and ready to provide the highest level service to the community we’re proud to protect.

And no need to worry, the geese are staying on the patch, and our hats aren’t going anywhere!

We have zero tolerance for impaired driving in Harding Township. If you’re heading into the long weekend with plans to drink, have a plan to stay off the road. Drive Sober or not at all.

Starting 9/21, the Dickson's Mill Bridge will be closed for construction. The bridge is being replaced and the project is scheduled to take approximately four (4) months to complete. The road will be closed to through traffic. Please follow the in place detours.

NJMVC will be at the New Vernon Fire Department, 22 Village Road, on October 2nd from 9am to 1:30pm for a mobile inspection site. No appointment needed, it's a first come first serve basis. Take care of that expiring or expired inspection without taking the trek to the DMV!

The Harding Township Police Department is deeply saddened to announce the passing of retired Lieutenant Michael Meade.

Prior to beginning his career as a police officer, Lieutenant Meade served as a Sergeant in the United States Army.

Lieutenant Meade joined the Harding Township Police Department in 1970 and rose through the ranks during his 37 year career before retiring in 2007.

Lieutenant Meade was an exceptional police officer. Not only did he solve numerous cases here in Harding Township, but was instrumental in many high profile cases throughout Morris County. Lieutenant Meade was the recipient of many awards, all of which were well deserved and hard earned. He worked each of his cases to the end and left no stones unturned. Harding Township is lucky to have had such an exceptional police officer amongst its ranks.

Lieutenant Meade was a lifelong resident of New Vernon where he lived with his wife and raised four beautiful children. On top of being a police officer, he was an active member of the community. Lieutenant Meade was a parishioner of Christ the King Church, a charter member of the New Vernon Volunteer First Aid Squad, a former member of the recreation board, and was a candidate for the Township Committee.
