Of course I forgot to take photos of the chocolate chip cookie bars Ive been crushing the past few weeks.

Pictures of the leg of lamb I roasted for Christmas, the cornish hens I brined for the Karamu and a short video of some bacon I rendered to make my own lard. I prefer using beef bacon since Im not big on pork, but I also didnt want to waste the pork and bought to honor an ancestor and their hoppin John recipe.

Ps im really not active on ig these days (as in not active at all, and deleted the app, but theres a business contest so I wanted to enter)..., but tiktok is fun. My business page there is hella dusty, but my personal one reminds me of the fun of IG before meta bought it and made it old people boring :p

I enjoyed basking in the sun. Got a chance to give my card out to several people. Mentioned catering options and some tasted samples. Also got to see an old dog walking client! M. looked good on their bike headed to work but we had a chance to shout each other out.

Charcoal drawings of my grandmother who was born in the early 20s. She has since passed away (2003) but her memory lives on strongly with Ma and with my Aunt Lathyrelle. Grandma took herself to the north in the mid40s to make a way for her, Auntie and Ma (grandma's two eldest children who were born in the South). There are so many stories I want to craft and share. To add to true American history.

10/7/24 Monday: Today's menu features carrot cake, pound cake, red velvet. Come on down and get you a slice today! Ill be at the Flatbush African Burial Ground after 1p. And then "walking off the job" to mark the 1 year anniversary of I$rael's g3nocid3 of the Palestinian people in Gaza, and now Lebanon.

One of the greatest things about being my own boss is that I can participate in activism in this country and not be fired for it, (or fired for wanting to unionize the workplace).

Smoothie: kale, raw garlic clove, fresh turmeric and ginger roots, cinnamon powder, chia seeds, 2 (or 3 or 4) dashes of quick oats, blue agave syrup, banana and the strings inside, tropical blend of frozen fruits (strawberry, pineapple, mango), milk.

Plate: stewed onions and peppers and fried red snapper whose skin had softened.

On Sunday when I popped up at the I found myself using the space around me to practice projecting my voice. Ended up yelling about (what I perceive to be) the perils of commercially bought powdered sugar - has cornstarch and as far as im concerned I dont wanna pay for a cut product, give me sugar. Yelled about taking back our power and to stop giving it away to crap corporations like mcd who arent doing narry a thing but continuing to hook addicts to trash food. Yelled about why and how people with faces like mine could come around the burial ground and disrespect it and our ancestors by throwing trash on the floor. I questioned if theyd do that type of stuff at a western styled cemetery. I let Church and Bedford know that I personally grind the cinnamon sticks, and sugar, and I extract Madagascan vanilla beans with kentucky burbon whiskey for homemade vanilla extract.

Maybe it was the yelling, but a man came over and asked for a sample (i said sure but forgot the visual samples were visual bc of slight defect - burn at bottom). He complimented the flavor but didnt like the burned part. He let me know that he was the owner of the food truck and that maybe there was space to do a collaboration. My trial - deliver 6 slices of cake.

We deserve to eat the best. Best doesnt necessarily have to mean expensive but it does mean not serving up s**t that I know is s**t quality and wouldnt do any good for your soul.
