เมื่อวันที่ 28 พ.ค. 2569 นายเชิดชาย ใช้ไววิทย์ เอกอัครราชทูต ผู้แทนถาวรไทย ประจำสหประชาชาติ ณ นครนิวยอร์ก เข้าร่วมการประชุม Group of Friends of Global Governance โดยมีนายหวัง อี้ สมาชิกกรมการเมือง ผู้อำนวยการสำนักงานคณะกรรมการกลางด้านกิจการต่างประเทศของพรรคคอมมิวนิสต์จีน และรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศจีน เป็นประธาน

เอกอัครราชทูตฯ กล่าวยินดีต่อความก้าวหน้าของข้อริเริ่ม Global Governance Initiative ซึ่งเป็นข้อริเริ่มที่สร้างสรรค์ สามารถเกื้อหนุนและสนับสนุนงานของสหประชาชาติได้ โดยเปิดพื้นที่แห่งการพูดคุยหารือและร่วมมือกันอย่างครอบคลุม พร้อมกับย้ำความมุ่งมั่นของไทยต่อหลักการแห่งกฎบัตรสหประชาชาติ ซึ่งล้วนมีความจำเป็นอย่างยิ่งยวดต่อการกำกับดูแลระดับโลกในปัจจุบัน

ทั้งนี้ ตอนหนึ่งของถ้อยแถลง เอกอัครราชทูตฯ ยังได้พูดถึงความเห็นของคณะผู้แทนประเทศหนึ่งด้วยว่า ประเทศไทยถูกยั่วยุซ้ำแล้วซ้ำเล่าจากข้อกล่าวหาที่ไร้มูลเหตุ ซึ่งเป็นการบ่อนทำลายการหารือโดยสุจริตใจและสวนทางกับเจตนารมณ์ของกฎบัตรสหประชาชาติ การกระทำที่มุ่งผลประโยชน์ทางการเมืองและการช่วงชิงพื้นที่สื่อ ย่อมบั่นทอนความไว้วางใจ และจะไม่ได้นำไปสู่การแก้ไขปัญหาแต่อย่างใด ผู้ที่ยั่วยุจำเป็นต้องเลือกทางเดินอื่น นั่นคือ การสร้างพื้นที่สำหรับการทูต การฟื้นฟูความไว้วางใจ และการกลับสู่หนทางแห่งสันติภาพ

On 28 May 2026, Mr. Cherdchai Chaivaivid, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations in New York, participated in the meeting of the Group of Friends of Global Governance. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau, Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China.

Ambassador Cherdchai welcomed the continued growth of the GGI, describing it as a constructive initiative that could complement and support the work of the United Nations. He reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, all of which were indispensable to global governance in the present day.

On this occasion, the Ambassador also addressed the comments made earlier by a delegation by stating that repeated provocations and unfounded allegations based on political point-scoring undermined good-faith dialogue as well as ran counter to the spirit of the UN Charter. Such actions erode trust and rarely created solutions. Breaking this cycle required those who chose provocation to make a different choice – to create space for diplomacy, rebuild trust, and return to the path of peace.

เมื่อวันที่ 14 พฤษภาคม 2569 นายเชิดชาย ใช้ไววิทย์ เอกอัครราชทูต ผู้แทนถาวรไทยประจำสหประชาชาติ ณ นครนิวยอร์ก ได้พบหารือกับนาง Rebeca Grynspan ผู้สมัครตำแหน่งเลขาธิการสหประชาชาติคนใหม่จากคอสตาริกา ณ ที่ทำการคณะผู้แทนถาวรฯ
นาง Grynspan ได้แลกเปลี่ยนวิสัยทัศน์เกี่ยวกับอนาคตของสหประชาชาติ ย้ำการสนับสนุนประเทศ Global South และความสำคัญของการเจรจาและความร่วมมือเพื่อรับมือกับความท้าทายระดับโลก ขณะที่เอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้กล่าวถึงบทบาทของไทยในประชาคมระหว่างประเทศ ซึ่งรวมถึงการเป็นประเทศเจ้าบ้านของหน่วยงานสหประชาชาติในระดับภูมิภาค พร้อมทั้งนำเสนอประเด็นที่ไทยให้ความสำคัญ ทั้งในมิติด้านความมั่นคง เศรษฐกิจ สังคม และสิทธิมนุษยชน

การพบหารือดังกล่าวสะท้อนบทบาทของไทยในฐานะผู้ขับเคลื่อนระบบพหุภาคีนิยมที่สร้างสรรค์ ปีนี้ครบรอบ 80 ปีของการเป็นสมาชิกสหประชาชาติของไทย ไทยยึดมั่นต่อกระบวนการสรรหาเลขาธิการสหประชาชาติคนใหม่ที่โปร่งใสและครอบคลุม โดยพร้อมหารือกับผู้สมัครคนอื่น ๆ ด้วย เพื่อให้มั่นใจว่า เลขาธิการสหประชาชาติคนใหม่เข้าใจมุมมองและประเด็นที่ไทยและอาเซียนให้ความสำคัญ

Thailand Engages with UNSG Candidate Rebeca Grynspan
On 14 May 2026, Mr. Cherdchai Chaivaivid, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations, received Ms. Rebeca Grynspan of Costa Rica, candidate for the position of United Nations Secretary-General (UNSG), at the Mission.

During the meeting, Ms. Grynspan shared her vision for the future of the United Nations, emphasizing strong support for the Global South and the importance of dialogue and cooperation in addressing global challenges. Ambassador Chaivaivid highlighted Thailand’s distinctive role in the international community, including its position as a major regional hub for UN operations, and shared Thailand’s priorities across security, economic, social, and human rights dimensions.

Ms. Grynspan’s outreach recognizes Thailand’s role as a constructive driver in advancing multilateralism. Commemorating the 80th anniversary of its UN membership this year, Thailand remains committed to a transparent and inclusive UNSG selection process and stands ready to engage with other candidates to ensure that the next UN leader is well attuned to perspectives and priorities of Thailand and ASEAN.

ไทยส่งเสริมบทบาทเยาวชนในการขับเคลื่อนโลกปลอดอาวุธนิวเคลียร์ผ่านนิทรรศการศิลปะ

เมื่อวันที่ 29 เมษายน 2569 นายเชิดชาย ใช้ไววิทย์ เอกอัครราชทูต ผู้แทนถาวรไทยประจำสหประชาชาติ ณ นครนิวยอร์ก ได้กล่าวเปิดงานนิทรรศการศิลปะเยาวชนอาเซียนและแปซิฟิกใต้ในหัวข้อ “Envisioning a World Free from Nuclear Weapons” ซึ่งจัดขึ้นในระหว่างการประชุมทบทวนสนธิสัญญาไม่แพร่ขยายอาวุธนิวเคลียร์ สมัยที่ 11 (11th Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons) ณ สำนักงานใหญ่สหประชาชาติ โดยเอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้เน้นย้ำความสำคัญของความร่วมมือระดับภูมิภาคและระดับโลก พร้อมเรียกร้องให้ทุกภาคส่วนเร่งดำเนินการอย่างจริงจังเพื่อให้เกิดความคืบหน้าอย่างเป็นรูปธรรมและตอบสนองต่อความคาดหวังของคนรุ่นใหม่ในการสร้างโลกที่ปลอดจากอาวุธนิวเคลียร์

นิทรรศการดังกล่าวนำเสนอผลงานที่ได้รับรางวัลจากการประกวดศิลปะของเยาวชน ซึ่งจัดขึ้น ณ กรุงเทพมหานคร ในปี 2568 ในโอกาสครบรอบ 30 ปีของสนธิสัญญากรุงเทพ โดยได้รับการสนับสนุนจาก Youth Leader Fund for a World without Nuclear Weapons (YLF) เพื่อเปิดโอกาสให้เยาวชนได้ถ่ายทอดวิสัยทัศน์เกี่ยวกับสันติภาพและการปลดอาวุธนิวเคลียร์ผ่านความคิดสร้างสรรค์ นอกจากนี้ ยังจัดแสดงผลงานของเยาวชนจาก
คิริบาส ภายใต้โครงการ Atomic Art ซึ่งสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงผลกระทบทางมนุษยธรรมของอาวุธนิวเคลียร์ต่อมนุษย์และสิ่งแวดล้อม โดยนิทรรศการนี้เป็นการรวมพลังเสียงของเยาวชนจากภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้และแปซิฟิกใต้ ซึ่งต่างเป็นเขตปลอดอาวุธนิวเคลียร์

ในโอกาสเปิดงานนิทรรศการ คณะผู้แทนถาวรฯ ได้นำเสนออาหารไทยในรูปแบบร่วมสมัยเพื่อเสริมสร้างประสบการณ์ทางวัฒนธรรมให้แก่ผู้เข้าร่วมงาน

Thailand promotes youth engagement in advancing a world free from nuclear weapons at the NPT Review Conference
On 29 April 2026, Mr. Cherdchai Chaivaivid, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations, delivered opening remarks at the “Envisioning a World Free from Nuclear Weapons” Youth Art Exhibition on the sidelines of the 11th Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The Ambassador highlighted the importance of regional and international cooperation. At a time when the nuclear disarmament agenda faces significant challenges, he called for renewed urgency and collective action to translate international commitments into meaningful progress, in line with the expectations of future generations.
The exhibition featured winners from the Youth Multimedia Arts Competition held in Bangkok in 2025 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Bangkok Treaty, with support from the Youth Leader Fund for a World without Nuclear Weapons (YLF). The competition provided a platform for young people to express their visions of peace and nuclear disarmament through creativity. The exhibition also included artworks by youth from Kiribati under the Atomic Art project, reflecting the humanitarian and environmental impacts of nuclear weapons. Together, these works reflect voices from Southeast Asia and the South Pacific, both Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zones, united in their shared goal for a world free from nuclear weapons.
The opening ceremony also featured Thai street-food presented in a modern style, bringing the guests the experience of Thai culture.

นายเชิดชาย ใช้ไววิทย์ เอกอัครราชทูต ผู้แทนถาวรไทยประจำสหประชาชาติ ณ นครนิวยอร์ก แสดงความห่วงกังวลอย่างมากต่อสถานการณ์ในกาซา โดยย้ำความจำเป็นเร่งด่วนในการคุ้มครองพลเรือน การส่งความช่วยเหลือด้านมนุษยธรรมอย่างทั่วถึงและการยึดมั่นกฎหมายระหว่างประเทศ ใช้การเจรจาโดยสันติเป็นหนทางแก้ไขปัญหา และเรียกร้องให้ทุกฝ่ายใช้ความยับยั้งชั่งใจและร่วมกันลดความตึงเครียดเพื่อมุ่งสู่การแก้ไขปัญหาอย่างยั่งยืน โดยไทยย้ำการสนับสนุนสันติภาพที่เป็นธรรมและยั่งยืนรวมถึงแนวทางสองรัฐ (two-State solution) ที่อิสราเอลและปาเลสไตน์สามารถอยู่ร่วมกันอย่างสันติและมั่นคง

Thailand stressed protection of civillians and support for sustainable peace in the Middle East

At the UNSC Open Debate on “The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question” chaired by Bahrain on 30 April 2026, Mr. Cherdchai Chaivaivid, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations, expressed deep concern over the situation in Gaza, stressing the urgent need to protect civilians, ensure humanitarian access, and uphold international law. A negotiated peaceful solution remains the only viable path forward. Thailand calls on all parties to exercise restraint and work toward de-escalation and a sustainable resolution.

Ambassador Cherdchai also reiterated Thailand’s support for a just and lasting peace, including a two-State solution where Israel and Palestine live side by side in peace and security.

Ceremony to Commemorate the Auspicious Occasion of the Coronation Day of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua, 4 May 2026

On 30 April 2026, His Excellency Mr. Cherdchai Chaivaivid, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to the United Nations, presided over a ceremony to commemorate the Coronation Day of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua, which falls on 4 May. Diplomats and officers of the Permanent Mission and the Office of the Military Advisor, including their spouses, were present at the ceremony.
