Election Day!

The Philippines 🇵🇭 thanks UN Member States and regional groups for their time and presence in various dialogues with us over the past weeks and months.

We are grateful for the opportunities to share our candidature’s vision and thematic priorities; and to listen to the perspectives, advice and ideas of individual Member States and regional groups, such as the African Group, SIDS, Caricom, among others, as well as the important inputs of women Permanent Representatives.

The Philippines, if elected to the Security Council for the term 2027-2028, commits to be a balanced, accessible, and dependable non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.

We will work with all for a United Nations 🇺🇳 for all.

As Chair of the Sixth Committee of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly, Permanent Representative Enrique A. Manalo presides over the election of the Bureau for the Committee’s 81st Session and marks the successful conclusion of its work.

PR Manalo: “At a time of significant transformations, geopolitical tensions and increasing pressures on multilateral institutions, the Sixth Committee has once again demonstrated the value of dialogue, mutual respect, and principled engagement. Through the commitment and active participation of all delegations, Member States were able to converge, preserve the Committee’s longstanding tradition by achieving consensus on all the agenda items while also making meaningful progress across its programme of work during the eightieth session, thus reaffirming its mandate as the primary forum for the consideration of legal questions in the General Assembly.”
