Look closely 🔎—this crown is etched with history.
"Crown (After Empress Menen)" by Helina Metaferia is made of brass and explores themes of resistance, labor, and power. A multidisciplinary artist of Ethiopian descent, Metaferia often draws on the legacy of activists—especially Black women activists—in her work.
LAST CHANCE—through May 3, see this piece alongside items from the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, New York Public Library in a special display in the "Polonsky Exhibition of The New York Public Library's Treasures."
