What is extraordinary is that our current politicians have actually deluded themselves into thinking moving Rikers Island's guards and prisoners into smaller buildings will solve the problem. Why aren't those potentially guilty of violating others' basic human rights being prosecuted themselves? It is easier to pretend the building's location is the problem, when, in fact, it is solely the actions of the individuals inside said building that make those problems.
