It is crucial to recognize the importance of Emancipation in Florida and beyond. On May 20, 1865 those who were enslaved in Florida learned they were free, 2 years after President Lincoln had issued the Emancipation Proclamation. It is crucial that we continue moving forward and ensuring equality for all!
