CFR Activity
Book Title: A Color of His Own
Author: Leo Lionni
A Color of His Own tells the story of a chameleon who feels a sense of sadness because he alters his colors to blend in with his environment, unlike other animals that possess their own unique colors.

Today, the Early Care team visited P.S. 299 Thomas Warren Field to read A Color of His Own and engage the children in a related activity. The children were thrilled to enjoy the book alongside our chameleon puppet, which brought them great excitement. Following this, they were delighted in watching the chameleon change colors in the water, appreciating its beauty. After completing the reading, we moved on to the activity where the children had the opportunity to color their own chameleon and take a book home with them to read with their families.

On March 18th, CHCF led parents, children, community members, and staff to Albany in support of after school programs in New York State. During our day in Albany, CHCF was able to meet with more than 40 offices of legislators from NYC. Parents, children, and child care providers were able to directly share their experiences and the needs for our after school programs.
