Every journey has its end. Ever since I announced my candidacy on October 26 of last year, many have supported me during this journey. I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone on my campaign team, all of you who have accompanied me through these nine months. No matter what others do in the election, we will be upstanding ourselves and abide by a fair and clean election.
We finally made it! Even though the results were not what we had in mind…I saw the 104 years old Old Hou, who has not been out of his house for more than a year due to the pandemic, come out in his wheelchair to vote for me. I saw Rachel, who broke her foot, handing out flyers for me in a wheelchair. Friends who I know or don’t know, Chinese or non-Chinese, people who stepped out of the poll site telling me that I voted for you, to all of you, no matter what the outcome is, I won.
Thank you for you affirmation of my 30 years of serving this district. The end is also a starting point. I must continue to uphold my goals and continue to work hard for our future!

Early voting is underway at the polling site located in downtown Flushing on 133-01 41st Rd. During this stretch run before primaries on June 22, I have been bringing my campaign message directly to voters in Council District 20 across Flushing. If restoring public safety, restoring respect for law enforcement, and feeling safe walking in your own neighborhood is a top priority, I am the candidate that has consistently advocated for public safety as a top priority from Day One. That is why I am proud to have received endorsement from those who are at the front line of public safety, from ALL major NYC police unions: Police Benevolent Association (PBA), Detectives (DEA), Captains (CEA), Lieutenants (LBA), and Sergeants (SBA). If elected to represent Council District 20, I pledge that public safety will be a non-negotiable issue, and I will fight to restore the necessary budget and infrastructure for the NYPD to have adequate resources to protect our community from the rampant rise in crime. Public safety is not a political football to be thrown around. Protecting public safety from the “defund police” movement requires someone who will not give in to political interests on a national level.
Flushing is in my DNA. With 33 years of involvement in serving the most vulnerable populations in Flushing, I am the only candidate who can demonstrate a life-long commitment to the Flushing community. I have witnessed the growth of Flushing through the years. I know its potential. But the recent rise in crime and COVID-19 have really hurt Flushing, and I want to help our community regain its glory, to restart the engine of economic growth through small businesses and unyielding focus on public safety. I am running for NYC Council to represent District 20 because I believe in restoring the quality of life that our community deserves. Together, we will make Flushing better!

It’s more important than ever to make your voice heard. Rank these candidates who put your safety and your family’s safety FIRST! Vote early through Sunday or vote on June 22nd!

Recently, I have been visiting on the streets of Flushing. I’ve had the opportunity to get in touch with everyone, and I’ve enjoyed listening to everyone voice out their thoughts and concerns. Along with this, I also want to thank everyone for all the continued support!

I am still continuing my visits to various businesses and centers across our community. These visits are very important to me as they help me better understand the needs and problems our people face. I understand that some politicians fail to listen to the voices of the community. This disconnect will only hinder progress for both the politician and the community they serve. Thus, I believe that establishing an open, firm communication with the community is one of the best ways that can help me better serve this community to the fullest.

At the press conference on June 5th, I was excited to announce that Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, a promising candidate for Comptroller for NYC, and I have given each other our endorsements for the upcoming election. I am endorsing Michelle because we are similar to one another in that we both have a rich and qualifying past experience. I believe that she and I can both put our experiences and resources to good use in order to serve our community and make it better!

On Monday morning, May 31st, Neng Wang visited the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association (CCBA) and was offered a warm welcome by many community leaders across Flushing and NYC. With the day of the visit being Memorial Day, Neng Wang not only honors the memory of the fallen veterans but also seeks to represent the wish of the American-Chinese: "Although many of us are immigrants, we love this country with a passion". At the visit, Neng Wang campaign office also received support from many community leaders. We really appreciate them put their trust on us. Their support truly raise our confidence up and encourage us move forward.

I am honored to have received endorsement from the NYC Detectives’ Endowment Association (DEA) and its 19,000 active and retired NYPD Detectives. Along with the previously announced endorsement from the Police Benevolent Association (PBA), NYC’s two largest police unions with a combined membership of over 43,000 men and women in law enforcement, have endorsed my campaign to help restore public safety as a top priority should I be elected to represent Flushing in City Council District 20.
Along with the rest of the community, I have felt great concern over the rise in anti-Asian hate crime, especially against the most vulnerable in our community. As someone who dedicated over 30 years to serving Flushing, I will make it a priority if elected to City Council to restore and preserve the level of public safety that we all need to feel safe in our own community and homes. Together, we will make Flushing better!

This week, Neng Wang who is running for the City Council District 20 was surrounded by over 100 supporters from the Nan Shan Senior Center at his Flushing listening tour. Neng Wang has served at the Senior Center for over 33 years. This point marks a meaningful start to the tour. Neng Wang has always fought for those whose voices are little heard from such as the elderly. It is important that we support populations of all ages to live with dignity and not be deprived of basic necessities such as housing and food security.
Along with the community, Neng Wang has felt great concern over the rise in anti-Asian hate crime, especially against the elderly. If elected to the City Council he will make it a priority to preserve the public safety that we all need to feel safe in our own community and homes. We need to restore funding for the police to do their work. I call on those who care about public safety for all to join me – together we will make Flushing better!
