What should be the shining light of McCarren Park, this former minor-league ballpark is still great, but completely neglected by the Parks Department.
Gilroy is McCarren's baseball field, with stadium lights nicely illuminating it. It's named for the slain police officer, Stephen Gilroy.
Stay off my damn lawn.
The Parks Department is presenting a proposal about this field tomorrow night, 6pm, at the Swinging 60's Senior Center on Manhattan Ave in Williamsburg. Come let your voice be heard!

There is a public visioning session occurring this coming Thursday September 6th concerning the upcoming renovations of the McCarren Park Ballfields 1, 2, & 3. 3 is Gilroy Field!
The meeting will be taking place at the McCarren Play Center 776 Lorimer Street (between Bayard St. and Driggs Ave 11222)
Please show up to the meeting any time you can and tell them to fix our field now!

No Open Space Alliance for North Brooklyn and New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, we don't need a capital project for basic maintenance. We just need to fill in some craters with dirt and install some drainage pipes for the water fountains. Instead of your PEP police hogging the bathrooms inside the Red Parks Building, how about opening them up to the public, as they once were? We don't need 7 million dollars down the road - spend a nickel now.

The Parks Department is shutting the soccer fields for a year to accomplish what should be done in a week. They were warned this decision would create total chaos, and the question is: will our local Parks Administrator direct our Parks Enforcement to keep the peace, or are they here just to harass the people in the park?
McCarren Park's Soccer Field Will Close For One Year, Starting Mid-March - BKLYNER WILLIAMSBURG - After two years of planning and procurement, the reconstruction of McCarren Park's synthetic turf soccer field is about to kick-off. The only downside? The field will be closed for at least a year.
Parks delivered some dirt and we made modest gains towards a smooth field.
