Today, September 29th, marks two years since the serious vehicle accident involving CA-TF8 during our Hurricane Helene deployment. On that day, the members of CA-TF8 experienced an event none of us will ever forget. As we mark this anniversary, I want to acknowledge what they endured, the impact it had on our team and their families, and the extraordinary support shown throughout their recovery and in the months that followed.

This month, New York Task Force One [NY-TF1]] joined the NYPD in celebrating the retirement of Inspector Stephen Finnegan after an extraordinary 42 years of dedicated service to the NYPD.

As the Executive Officer of the NYPD and a member of NY-TF1 since 2002, Inspector Finnegan has been a steady and trusted leader, guiding our team through numerous deployments to disaster zones across the country.

Throughout his career, he exemplified calm leadership under pressure, unwavering professionalism, and a deep commitment to both the mission and the people who carry it out.

While we will miss his leadership and presence, his legacy will continue through the countless members he has influenced throughout his remarkable career.

On behalf of the entire NY-TF1 family, thank you Inspector for your decades of service. We wish you a long, healthy, and well-deserved retirement!
