To be the child of Caribbean immigrants is to be blessed with a culture and community unlike any others.

It is an honor to call myself a Caribbean American, and it is a privilege to wish my fellow sons and daughters of the diaspora a wonderful Caribbean American Heritage Month!

Congratulations to the remarkable young men and women of Medgar Evers' Class of 2026! Within each of these graduates are unlimited possibilities, unprecedented potential, and the power to shape America's future in their image.

It was my honor to be their commencement speaker!

Louisiana Legislature Passes Map Erasing Black-Majority District 05/29/2026

Modern-day voter suppression, folks!

This is the greatest reduction of representation of Black communities - particularly in the deep south - that we've seen since the Voting Rights Act was signed into law.

This is devastating for Black communities, which will be left without representation at the local, state, and federal levels in red states by leaders who share and understand their lived experiences.

Louisiana Legislature Passes Map Erasing Black-Majority District Louisiana’s Republican legislature gave final approval to a new congressional map that eliminates one of the state’s two Black-majority districts and would likely lead to a one-seat GOP pickup in the November election if upheld in court.

As an advocate for the underserved, as a champion for the next generation, as a fearless leader who battled every single day to push South Florida and her nation forward, Congresswoman Frederica Wilson's legacy is absolute.

Wishing my dear sister and friend the peaceful and rewarding retirement she has earned!

As we gather with our loved ones this Memorial Day, we do so in honor of the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Their unparalleled patriotism, courage, and commitment to our freedom will never be forgotten, and can never be repaid.

US tells foreigners seeking green cards: Return to your countries to apply 05/22/2026

Point blank, this policy is a disgrace. It will rip talented, hardworking immigrants out from America and our economy, congest an already overburdened backlog, and further break an already broken immigration system.

And that’s by design.

This administration has made the pain of immigrants a priority, and that won't change until there’s no one left to hurt.

US tells foreigners seeking green cards: Return to your countries to apply Foreigners seeking to adjust their immigration status in the United States to secure green cards will have to do so from outside the country via ‌the State Department, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services said on Friday, in a move criticized by aid groups.

For too long, too many families have lost their children and loved ones to preventable tragedies on our roads. That’s why I am proud to see my and Congressman Joe Neguse’s Magnus White And Safe Streets For Everyone Act advance through the Energy and Commerce Committee today!

Our legislation would make our roads safer for pedestrians and cyclists by improving standards for automatic emergency braking technology. We named it for Magnus White, who was tragically killed at 17 years old by a reckless driver, and whose life could have been saved if stronger standards had been in place.

Alongside the White family and the White Line, we will continue to fight to make our roads safe for every American on them. And, in the name of Magnus White and all others who were lost to preventable tragedies, we will prevail!

If any institution believes it can continue to profit off Black talent while ignoring the oppression, exploitation, and disenfranchisement of Black communities, it is sorely and disgracefully mistaken.

Thank you to Leader Hakeem Jeffries and our Congressional Black Caucus colleagues, Derrick Johnson, and every Black athlete and advocate who joined us today and echoed the NAACP’s call to boycott institutions that rely on Black Americans for their athletic success, but decline to speak up while we are silenced.

My heart is with my Muslim brothers and sisters following this horrific attack against their community, today.

In this nation, everyone has the right to follow their faith without the threat of violent hatred reaching their places of worship, their homes, or wherever their lives take them.

And that is why I will always stand with our Muslim neighbors, who have only made America stronger and more decent, and who deserve better than what it has given them in return.
