At Virtue Foundation, we believe that data can be a powerful force for good. That is why we launched the Virtue Foundation Actionable Data Initiative, a forward-thinking technology initiative that seeks to create a more efficient marketplace for the delivery of healthcare in under-served regions of the world. Born from years of on-the-ground medical missions, the project seeks to use predictive analytics and machine learning algorithms to analyze geospatial data, infrastructure, risk factors, and other environmental conditions to better predict need and match available resources.

The latest milestone of our Actionable Data Initiative is the release of Insights in Global Health: A Compendium of Health Facilities and Nonprofits. This publication by Taylor & Francis is a first-of-its-kind reference that includes detailed nonprofit and healthcare facility information for 24 low-income countries.

We invite you to explore Insights in Global Health and its integrated tools, which provide critical data to inform and encourage impactful interventions and healthcare delivery to take place around the world.

We are pleased to announce the latest milestone of our Actionable Data Initiative: the publication by Taylor & Francis of Insights in Global Health: A Compendium of Health Facilities and Nonprofits.

Presented in an easily accessible format and organized in 24 country chapters, Insights allows stakeholders to better identify where healthcare services are available and where additional resources are needed. Each of the chapters presents a brief country overview, a map depicting the locations of healthcare facilities, and a curated list of nonprofit organizations and healthcare facilities. QR codes associated with each listing link back to a dedicated web platform, providing access to further information about the organizations as well as the ability to interact with the data in a customizable manner.

We hope Insights in Global Health will provide critical data to inform and encourage impactful interventions and healthcare delivery to take place around the world. We invite you to explore our new publication and share your own insights in global health!

Give the gift of health this Giving Tuesday with Virtue Foundation! Whether through direct patient care in remote regions of countries such as Mongolia or Ghana or our forward-thinking technology platform that makes those most in need visible and matches healthcare resource to that need, your donations will be efficiently utilized to maximize return for those most needing care.

This year, we are especially excited to have celebrated ten years of surgical missions to Mongolia with over 10,000 patients served over the last decade. We are also excited to have started our strategic partnership with Dun & Bradstreet that integrates D&B data and analytics with Virtue Foundation’s Data Mapping Initiative.

Teaching and skills transfer to local staff is a key feature of all Virtue Foundation Missions. One of the VF volunteer surgeons presented to the midwives and maternity ward nurses of Wa Regional Hospital on the topic of vacuum assisted delivery. A hands-on training followed the lecture, wherein the staff was able to practice the skills Dr. Nouri shared.

Virtue Foundation has arrived in Ghana for its annual Surgical and Medical Mission. For the next week, a volunteer team of doctors and medical professionals will be working and teaching in various clinical site throughout the country.

Our first stop on the 2018 Virtue Foundation Mission to Ghana is Wa Regional Hospital, Upper West Region. As the capital of the region and also the main referring facility in the area, our volunteers have the opportunity to assist on complex surgeries and teach skills to staff that serve patients in Wa and well beyond. The team was welcomed with open arms by administrative heads of the hospital and took no time getting into the operating room. Several complex cases were completed on the first day that lasted well into the night!

Teaching and sustainable skills transfer is a large portion of the work Virtue Foundation does in Mongolia. Many local staff attended a lecture on Ocular Oncology that was given at First Central Hospital this past week.

Virtue Foundation currently has a large team of specialists serving patients at the Western Regional Diagnostic and Treatment Center. The VF volunteers in Khovd are screening and operating a wide variety of ophthalmological conditions.
