Watch out for the mightiest Brooklynites you’ve seen yet! 🥋💙
Students at the Laurie A. Cumbo Children’s Enrichment Center recently wrapped up their year-long Taekwondo enrichment program with a special board-breaking ceremony and showcase.
Throughout the year, students practiced discipline, coordination, confidence, and perseverance. This final celebration gave them a chance to proudly demonstrate everything they learned in front of a room full of cheering family members.
We are so proud of our young martial artists for showing up with courage, energy, and plenty of power!

BCS has a new home in Downtown Brooklyn!
Effective Monday, June 22, 2026, Brooklyn Community Services has relocated its main office to 384 Bridge Street, 4th Floor, just one block away from our previous headquarters.
All phone numbers, email addresses, and points of contact remain the same.
While the renovation of our permanent home at 285 Schermerhorn is underway, our new office is just a few blocks away and reflects our continued commitment to serving Brooklyn communities while providing a welcoming space for staff, partners, and stakeholders.
We look forward to continuing this work together and welcoming you to our new space! 💙

Waverly School of the Arts runs on Jungle Energy! 🌿🎨
As part of their spring curriculum, students in our after-school program created an interactive “Rainforest Explorers” art showcase, sharing their creativity, curiosity, and all they’ve learned throughout the season.
What a fun, adventurous way to bring the school year to a close!

Health, wellness, resources, and a little fun in the sun. ☀️💙
Our BCS Beacon Program recently hosted a Community Health Fair at Oxport Park, bringing together more than a dozen vendors and community members for a day of connection and care.
The community learned about local health and wellness resources, participated in a basketball clinic, enjoyed massage services, and took part in raffle giveaways.
At its heart, Beacon programming is about creating spaces where young people, families, and neighbors feel supported, connected, and cared for. Learn more about Beacon and other BCS programs at wearebcs.org.

What a Great Adventure for our Seniors!
Our Brooklyn H.S. for Leadership & Community Service seniors took on Six Flags this past weekend for their annual Grad Night, making memories before they walk across the stage and step into their next chapter.
We are so proud of our seniors and can’t wait to see all the places they’ll go!

A night to remember! 💙 🌺
Last night, we had the joy of celebrating 160 years of Brooklyn Community Services at the beautiful Palm House at Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
Together, we honored Elizabeth Christensen for her continued commitment to our community, reflected on BCS’s legacy of service, and celebrated the programs that continue to support Brooklynites every day, including Food for Families and our education programs.
To our guests, donors, partners, supporters, and friends: thank you for showing up, giving generously, and celebrating this milestone with us. We hope you enjoyed the evening as much as we enjoyed sharing it with you.
And to our incredible vendors, thank you for helping make the night feel so special. We are so grateful!

The BCS Clubhouse held its annual Economic Expo this month, bringing participants together for a day of learning, connection, and community resources.
In partnership with BCS PROS, Sea Rise, and our Outreach team, Clubhouse participants had the opportunity to learn more about the programs and services available across BCS and to engage in meaningful conversations about financial wellness, community support, and pathways to greater stability.
A special thank you to our participating BCS teams for helping make this year’s Economic Expo a meaningful experience for our Clubhouse community. 💙

May was a beautiful month for BCS’s Food for Families distributions! 💙
Brooklynites ditched their coats this month and joined us across the borough to receive free bags of farm-fresh groceries from across our distribution sites.
With demand continuing to grow, we’ve decided to increase the number of food bags available in Coney Island and are working on ways to better meet the need at our other locations.
This work would not be possible without our Food for Families Coordinator, Angie Chait, our incredible volunteers who help each distribution run smoothly, and our wonderful partners at Brooklyn Supported Agriculture.
We’re looking forward to seeing familiar and new faces next month! Swipe to the end to view June’s distribution schedule.
