As the devastating tragedy of the earthquake in Haiti took place in January 2010, leaders from the Jewish and Haitian communities congregated to discuss joint communal needs and how the Jewish community could further assist locally. The NY-Haitian Leadership Fellowship initiative emerged out of these discussions, and will provide a leadership training program for NY-Haitian professionals at the executive level. What We Do
The NY-Haitian Leadership Fellowship consists of leadership development seminars, which take place once a month and cover issues that are NY-Haitian community centric. Fellows also participate in a Grant Making committee, which is the “hands on” portion of the day. The fellows take on the role of funders, gaining a unique view and better understanding of the grant making process and becoming better grant writers themselves.
