We welcomed fall last week with Fall for Encore 49! 🍂

Encore 49 provides supportive housing and wraparound services for older adults who have experienced homelessness and are living with mental health needs.

Residents came together for a day of good food, bingo, painting, karaoke, and joy, with special activities brought over by our Aging Through Arts Older Adult Center. 🎨🎤

At Encore, we know that connection and community are an important part of aging well. We loved seeing Encore 49 residents spend the day creating, laughing, and enjoying one another’s company.

Online scams are getting more sophisticated, and older adults are bearing the brunt of their impacts. We can stop this trend through education, awareness and stronger protections.

We’re hosting a National Day of Action focused on combating tech- and AI-enabled fraud. Join us Wednesday, September 30, from 1–2 p.m. at the Encore Lifelong Learning Center for an important conversation about how we can better protect older adults and our communities.

Hear from experts from the Center for Countering Digital Hate, Reset Tech and the Alliance for Retired Americans New York State Chapter, lawmakers like NYC Councilmember Council Member Crystal Hudson, and scam survivors, followed by a local panel moderated by Encore’s Director of Advocacy & Government Relations, Marcus Jackson.

Together, we can raise awareness, reduce the stigma surrounding scam victimization and help give New Yorkers the tools they need to stay safe.

Light refreshments will be served. Link in the comments to register.

We’re celebrating two very special members of the Encore Community Services team! Last night, Ana Quinones and Alveny De La Cruz received the 2026 Citymeals on Wheels STAR Award, recognizing their dedication to going above and beyond in service to older New Yorkers.

Their work reflects what Encore strives to provide every day, beyond essential services: care, dignity, compassion, and meaningful connection.

We’re proud to have members of our Case Management, Home Delivered Meals and Operations teams there to celebrate Ana and Alveny and the impact they make. Please join us in congratulating them on this wonderful and well-deserved recognition!

We’re proud to celebrate our Chief Financial Officer Judith Castillo, who has been named one of City & State New York’s 2026 Latino Trailblazers!

Judith’s leadership has been instrumental in Encore’s growth and our ability to serve more older New Yorkers. Since joining Encore in 2019, she has helped guide the organization’s growth from a $7 million budget to $18 million while nearly doubling our staff to more than 100 people.

Behind every meal delivered, every older adult supported and every program we expand is the strong foundation that makes that work possible. Judith’s leadership, expertise and commitment to Encore’s mission have helped build that foundation.

Congratulations, Judith, on this well-deserved recognition!
