We are, once again, partnering with The Onion to throw another round of FREE satire writing workshops for people who have historically been systematically excluded from opportunities in the comedy industry, specifically people of color, women, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, people with disabilities, and people 40+ years old.
These workshops, taught by current staff writers and editors of The Onion, will teach you how to apply your comedic sensibilities using the fundamentals of writing Onion-style headlines and articles. Many workshop alums have gone on to be contributors, full-time staff members at The Onion and even writers for various television shows.
The DaF Team has organized many of these workshops in the past as either in-person and virtual. In the spirit of allowing as many aspiring writers as possible to participate, we are excited to announce that this year’s series will be available both in-person and virtual! The in-person workshops will take place on March 25th and 26th, 2023, at The Onion offices in Chicago, IL. The virtual option will also be that weekend.
