Join us for collage-making followed by a food demonstration by local Haitian chef and author, Nadège Fleurimond! All are welcome and all materials provided. Please bring any recipes or photos that you would want to use for your collage!
After collaging, chef Nadège Fleurimond will demonstrate how to
make a traditional Haitian dessert, Blan Manje. Participants will also have the option to submit their collages to the BPL Community Food Collage Zine!

✨Leading Lights✨ is a monthly program designed to engage, inspire, and uplift older adults in a variety of art programs. These workshops are led by fellow older adults who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and talents with library patrons across Brooklyn. Flatbush Library will hosting this exciting new program in which older adults will create a collage and create affirmation cards. Join us this fall for a free lecture series on Caribbean History. We'll be hosting three fantastic scholars who will share their work and research with us. Details below:
- Saturday, 11/8 Dr. Tyesha Maddox will talk about the history of mutual aid and community care among Caribbean immigrants in New York City.
- Tuesday, 11/18: Dr. James Cantres will discuss the history of political organizing, resistance movements and anti-imperialism among Caribbean immigrants.
- Tuesday, 12/2: Dr. Laurie Lambert will discuss her research on Black feminism and the role of women in Grenada's Revolution.
