This week, Youth Member Trayvon and YJN Outreach & Retention Specialist Vidal in Albany for the DCJS Youth Justice Conference, Reimagining Justice.

While there, Trayvon and four other young leaders had the opportunity to speak with stakeholders and peers about their vision for a better, more just society. They shared powerful insights on what meaningful change looks like and highlighted the tools those in positions of power can use to help turn that vision into reality.

This World Poetry Day we’re sharing some of the beautiful visual poems that the women in Rikers Island created. Visual poetry Visual Poetry allows these resilient women to express emotion and identity not only through words, but through shape, color, texture, and space. Creativity can flourish anywhere.

New York promised $1.2B for youth justice work, but less than a third of it was actually spent. And NYC got none of it.

The Youth Justice Innovation Fund would put $50M directly into community programs proven to enhance public safety and prevent system involvement: mentoring, mental health resources, jobs, reentry programs, and alternatives to incarceration.

On March 25, we are calling on lawmakers to stop sitting on funding and start investing in what works.
